Dropped in for a late lunch before catching a train out. We spent a very pleasant hour or so, in a nice, friendly and colloquial atmosphere. Food was great, herrings tasty and fresh, the crab soup delightful. Interesting location as well.
Surely will come back next time I'm in town.

We enjoyed a business lunch on a great day in Cuxhaven (very sunny). This restaurant has a very nice sun room in the back - request to sit here.
The food was very good, with a good variety. Typical northern German dishes, with other unique flavors.
Our group all got something different and enjoyed our plates.
Good option when in Cuxhaven and close to the Castle.

We learned of this restaurant because friends of ours were having their wedding reception at this location. We decided to make it an extended weekend getaway. The restaurant is located on a dune above the beach and has a marvelous view of the water as well as nearby Neuwerk Island. This makes it the perfect location for sunset views.
We first arrived at the restaurant the day before the reception for brunch. The food was delicious. The chef was very helpful especially in light of my food allergies and was able to provide me with freshly cut items that were prepared just for me. I added the vanilla yogurt to the fresh fruit compote at brunch- Delicious! The fortified milk, bread products, and yogurts are farmed/made specifically for this restaurant and were delicious. The chef informed us that the farm which provided the milk is not that far away and has tours and a petting zoo; however, we were to busy this weekend and will have to visit it another time.
The evening of the reception was excellent. The wait staff were all prompt and friendly. The manager was very meticulous in making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Again the chef was able to adjust from the spinach encrusted tenderloin to just plain tenderloin for my health needs and was conscientiously concerned that I was able to enjoy the meal without feeling like an imposition to the staff. The bar was well stocked and all requests were met with prompt and friendly service. Even the children were attended to with imagination - my daughter was intoduced to a "Lemonaid" drink that was very interesting. OK, we added a little bit of brown sugar to ease the tartness for her sweet tooth but it was wonderful after that.
We were all invited to return the next morning for brunch and again I was so comfortable despite my special needs.
The building was shared with the Beach rescue service and the restroom area is open to the public beach visiters. This was the only drawback from this excellent restaurant as, at times, the restrooms were not treated kindly by the beach bathers.

I've had meals at this place several times since I discovered this restaurant about a year ago and I was never disappointed. The quality of the food is excellent, the service is quick and friendly. The prices are ok. In many ways much better than some of the competitors in Cuxhaven.

At first I have to say the Service is perfect. The waiters are trained so well, I saw a lot worse trained people in high-end restaurants.
The menu is a good mix of meat, fish and Deserts. We've been here several times and the quality was always perfect. The serving size is amazing at a totally fair price.
I would especially recommend the "Kaiserschmarrn" but you should share it because it is really big.
If you are in Cuxhaven (Duhnen or Döhse) you sould totally have lunch or coffee here!

Auch der Service ist immer freundlich.
Das Lokal ist auch für Feierlichkeiten gut geeignet.
Schade nur, dass abends recht früh Feierabend ist, aber wer fleißig ist muss auch mal ausruhen

We come here regularly as it opens mostly everyday plus service is good, Seating is all nice with the view to the sea and the food is relatively good. It is part of a hotel. The resto is where all ships are passing from the north sea to the elbe river and vice versa. At the right tome of the day, the restaurant makes announcements of what ships are passing by, their names, their loads, their technical detail, their point of departure and their destination. That was such a nice experience.

For people who like Italian food and wines is Osteria la Fenice a must to visit in Cuxhaven. Real Italian food, very interesting selection of wines from small vineyards, all served from the heart by the owner. Small place, small menue but all is top quality. Home-made pastas are outstanding, every dish is a pleasure for the eye and palate. The only thing we missed was that we would have iked to have some beef for the main course but there wasn't any in the menue. The owner's recommendations of wines were really good. And his prices are really fair for this quality. Osteria la Fenice is worth a special visit, also from further away. We will certainly go back!

Their thin crust pizza reminded me of the ones I had in Florence Italy. Very tasty. There are plenty of variety to choose from but the menus are in German only. Make sure you go with somebody who reads German. The waiters do speak English.
Must try one of their desserts at the end. Their gelato seems to be a local favorites even when it is 2c outside
