I had been there to this small, but well decorated restaurant a few times during my recent visit to Belfort. I must say that the people who manage the orders are a smart lot who precisely understand what a customer wants.
Typically, the way French eat their meal is very different from how Indians do. They eat bread/roti/nan as a starter. Indians eat that as main course. The restaurant guys understand this very well and cater to individuals' requirements well.
The food is good...not extraordinary compared to what we get in India. But great compared to Indian food outside India.
Ambience is good. There is a personal Indian touch that you will feel there in a foreign land. One can surely visit there many times.
A 3 star for the food and a star extra for the personal touch and hospitality.

Lorsque nous sommes à Belfort nous ne manquons pas de nous rendre dans ce restaurant. L'accueil de la patronne est absolument incontournable ; agréable, gentille, souriante et chaleureuse avec chaque client. C'est un bonheur de pénétrer dans ce restaurant même si son décor est un peu sombre mais finalement bien reposant avec vue sur 2 Aquariums. Tout ce qui est proposé est très bon : sauces goûteuses et relevées selon les envies de chacun pour accompagner les plats. Les plats servis sur les plaques chauffantes sont excellents. Si le soir le service est parfois un peu long, peu importe car le temps semble s'être arrêté en pénétrant ici. Je n'ai jamais vu un client qui s'impatientait. Tout respire la tranquillité dans ce restaurant et dans notre monde actuel c'est un bienfait. Se promener dans l'avenue Jean-Jaurès sans faire une halte au SHANG'HAI c'est presque impensable. Alors, hop, allez-y et bonne dégustation.

The whole evening was excellent. We had booked reasonably early and wondered if we we the only diners but my goodness the restaurant soon filled up. We struggled a little with the translation but the gentleman who looked after us was very kind and gave us good explanations. The entire dinner was fantastic, the amount of flavour in the dishes along with the presentation was truly fab.

A small little restaurant that had a tiny bar occupied by a few locals. Our waitress did not speak a lot of English but was great as she presented us with their chalk board menu for the evening and tried her best to translate. The food was great with the duck and lamb both being very tender and not in heavy sauces. We were not disappointed!

Excellent kitchen. The restaurant is a little small but therefor very cosy. The menu consists out of dedicated meals that are absolutely very tasty. In this restaurant you can really sit down and enjoy the food for the whole evening. Great wines available as well.Je vous remercie pour votre commentaire, et suis ravi que cela vous ait plu. Tucked away in a neighborhood directly across from a church, this restaurant offers excellent cuisine in a relaxed setting. We requested al fresco since it was July and the hostess was kind enough to move a table outside for us since all the other tables in the outside Seating area were reserved. Foie gras was excellent as was the duck. The desserts were very fine and the wine selection was good. Definitely worth seeking out this hidden gem.

A little off the main strip, literally at the end of an alley, this place is the bee's knees! Traditional french cooking in a cosy, stylish atmosphere. Perhaps a little tight for space and the tables annoyingly small, but the service is friendly.

Super dîner comme d'habitude mais le choix de mettre une grande table féminine sans aucun respect pour les autres clients dans la salle principale, a été une mauvaise idée ce soir là.
Le personnel était au tant gêné que nous mais impuissant à cette situation.
Heureusement que nous connaissions ce lieu auparavant et que nous n'avons jamais été déçu.
