Had the scallops starter which was delicious and different fish options as mains. Good sized portions and we could not manage a sweet but sat and savoured the view for an hour or so over a glass of wine - the restaurant is by the sea and one looks over the lights of the bay as well as catching sight of the liners coming from And going to
Bridgetown. Service is efficient and
Friendly.

Round House

Located in historic Bathsheba on the rugged east coast of Barbados, Round House has been a popular destination for locals and visitors for 150 years. With a colorful history as a train stop and longtime private residence, Round House today is one of the island's most beloved landmarks. The property offers commanding views of the Atlantic coastline, a panoramic vista of the iconic limestone rocks and thundering waves of Bathsheba, and an undisturbed stretch of beach studded with natural tidal pools just above one of the world's premier surf spots. Our bed-and-breakfast inn offers five architecturally-unique guest rooms, with unparalleled views and historic features intact throughout the completely original building. Our bustling restaurant uses only simple, fresh, locally-sourced ingredients for our menu served daily inside our dining room or outside on our decks overlooking the Atlantic, where you can put up your feet and unwind with one of the best views on the island.

Arrived to an empty restaurant at 7:30 ish ... shown to a miserable table by a half opened shabby door so asked to move which the waitress happily obliged. Others started to slowly arrive. Shared a coconut shrimp starter (5 between 2 of us) def should have had as main course. Chose the catch next (marlin) was just ok, no sauce plain but seasoned well ...but veg was uninspiring and mash fine but other choice ie the fries awful .... soggy and undercooked and no presentation as thrown on the plate. A bottle of wine and then the bill over 200 BD$ .... a disappointing experience though service pleasant. Locals have since informed us they never go. Such a shame as little competition but The Atlantis beats it in every way. In any other location I can’t see how this restaurant would survive ...

Nishi Restaurant

Since February 2014 Nishi is under the ownership of Paul Edwards, one of the founders of Nishi and Steve Prebble a UK entrepreneur who lives in Barbados. Nishi incorporates a funky outdoor dining area and bar where you can dine under the stars, air-conditioned dining watching our famous sushi chefs and a private dining area. We are family friendly offering everything from great sushi to homemade British pies and an early evening takeaway service.

Stylish courtyard setting. Nice change from waterfront dining. Good food. I particularly enjoyed the fish pie. Perfect comfort food after boat cruise. Girlfriend enjoyed her sushi bento box. Certainly worth a visit when in Barbados. The owner Paul quite clearly cares about the guests and his team worked hard to make it a good meal.

We went to the 'famous Wednesday buffet' at the Atlantis Hotel, a table for 7, with a great view of the water and a nice breeze off the sea. The setting was magnificent, the food ... less so. Rather underwhelming, in fact. The buffet turned out to be a row of a dozen or so food choices, each on a metal tray, with no burner that I could see. Some were what I expected and would consider 'typical Bajan', such as rice and peas, macaroni pie, sweet potato pie, pumpkin and prawn fritters, etc. Others, like a broccoli and gorgonzola melt, or herbed mash potatoes, not quite so traditional! There were baked flying fish, fried marlin, roast chicken, and chicken curry options. The food was warm-ish, and I'm not sure how long it had been sitting there as trays were only replenished when the first one was absolutely empty.
You line up with your plate and the food is served to you, and you got a singular one of things - it was all very controlled. No ‘all you can eat’ buffet here, although the price might suggest otherwise. The waitress whisked away empty plates, but we discovered that you could in fact ask for fresh cutlery and go back a second time, to try the things you'd missed. They gave you a smaller piece the second time around, though, and it was still only warm-ish.
If you go, then go for the view, and to say you were there - but don't expect a culinary extravaganza.

The band is really good, and the staff really friendly. Not quite sure about the food. For tapas I didn’t quite expect so many fried dishes on the menu.

Plastic chairs, slow service due to regular cruise coaches so always busy but there is little competition in this location. However to be fair our shared coconut shrimp salad was freshly made and very nice though we’ve had better shrimp elsewhere. 2 homemade lemonades which were very welcome and a bill of just over BD62$ seems over the top and probably double the price of a smart cafe experience at home with napkins, nice chairs and a little polish. Would rather pay a smidgen more and eat in comparable luxury for lunch at The Atlantis Hotel for an overall smart lunch.

Such friendly lovely local people. The local hotels were also great but this was a good alternative to the formal dining on offer there. Excellent fish and other options and the drinks were the most affordable we found on the island. It is not posh but the food is wholesome and the atmosphere authentic - listen to the waves crashing against the rocks. Service was excellent and the staff were keen to chat.
