We were recommended to try El Chaleco by our hotel Los Bartolos as their restaurant closes on Sunday night. Inspired choice - the food was superb. A lovely mixed salad to start, followed by a lovely fish dish and the most amazing dessert - Tarta Naval - described as a cross between Creme Caramel and cheesecake - it was better than both. With coffees and wine our bill was 67 euros - excellent value - a wonderful meal.

La Perdiz

Whilst exploring the wonderful Sierra Espuña national park, my husband and I came across this little restaurant and cafe in the middle of the park, surrounded by Mountains and pine trees.
Friendly Service, and we ate wonderful, simple local food - wild boar stew, venison, local cheese. My husband still talks about it!
If you are walking, camping or just driving through this beautiful part of Murcia, then go to La Perdiz.

We visited the beautiful La Mariposa in the Sierra Espuna for one of their Steak Offers. WOW! We were not disappointed. The family that run it are really lovely and cannot do enough for you. The rooms were lovely and clean with great views. Loved the quirkiness of "The Hat Room" that we stayed in. We got there at 3pm and sat on the lovely Terrace with a drink admiring the views. The steaks were some of the best we have eaten. If you are in the area this is a must. Cannot recommend the hotel of the people, or the food enough. We will definitely return.

We first went to this restaurant a couple of years ago, when it participated in a Tapas Route. At that time we were particularly impressed with the quality of the tapas offered and made a note that we must get back for a full meal some time.
Time has gone on and we hadn't been back but, last week, we were passing Alhama at around lunch time and decided to at last get around to having a Menu del Dia there.
As the restaurant is just outside the main part of town, parking is easy.
We had high hopes from our tapas experience but, sadly, they were not met. After the salad I had a disappointing seafood paella that really only had flavour from the lemon that I squeezed on it. Perhaps I should have gone for the home made albondigas that the owner seemed keen to push. For second course both my wife and I had merluza. The fish itself was quite tasty but served with just sliced potatoes that were not terribly appetising.
The menu was 10€, including dessert and wine, but I have to say that I have had better, cheaper Menus elsewhere.

Went again for my birthday, €25 per head for the family, 5 delicious different starters to share, almost a meal in themselves, followed by a quite superb rabbit paella, Deserts all round and coffee, with complimentary beers and soft drinks throughout, simply the best around and with the euro such good value about £20 a head. We always come here when in the area, as it is a bussling bistro that whilst expensive by spanish set menus standard , is always busy and the old adage of you get what you you pay for is very true, we have had some fantastic 10 to 12 euros set lunches, but this is worth every cent!

A very good family run restaurant offering excellent menu del dia Monday to Friday. The restaurant is especially busy on Sunday lunch time with all meats cooked on wood burning stoves. The house speciality is arroz con caracoles, rice with snails.
The restaurant opens early for breakfast around 6.30 and closes after the lunch service around 4.30. The menu del dia service can be a little fast but they will slow down if you ask them.

Decided to eat here on our last day at the complex. Prices are slightly more than I thought they would be compared to some of the other options available to eat at. Had a few issues with the order but nothing that was not rectified easily enough. The burger I wanted came with cheese and tomato which I asked to have removed but it came with cheese and for desert I ordered the fudge cake which came with both cream and ice cream. I asked for this without the cream and ended up with neither but when I asked for the ice cream it came back with both options. This is the only reason I have taken a star off the rating. Sitting outside there were a lot of flies which does seem to be a fairly big problem but there is not much that can be done. The service was good although nobody came back to see if everything was ok or if we required any drink refills (must be an English thing)

Came here as a recommendation for Tapas. Well I took one look at the Tapas selection and that was that... Dried out, dull looking, snapped together food in a glass display cabinet. As I returned to the table I told the server I wasn't keen on it and was told they only make it once a day, in the morning. This was about 22:00 however bearing in mind, people generally go out at this time to eat in Spain.
Reluctantly, I looked at the menu and the Stuffed Chicken (Chef's Surprise) caught my eye so I ordered it along with a Prawn starter. Starter arrived and it was definitely good. Cooked in a mildly spiced sauce with garlic.
Following this, the main course arrived. Wow, this admittedly changed my opinion. It was very impressive. Chicken breast stuffed with Pork mince, Pine Nuts, spices and garlic. Incredibly tasty. Just this one item alone gets 5 stars. The chips were depressing and tasted like they were made that morning along with the daily Tapas.
As there aren't a lot of options at Condado De Alhama, we returned a few days later and this place is definitely a hit and miss. Ordered a Calamari starter that was incredibly rubbery and tasteless. I'm no vegetarian and fortunately, nor do I suffer from an allergy to fish but they also clearly use the same fryer for the seafood as they do for chips as there was one chip that accompanied the Calamari, I'm sure this is against some sort of food hygiene standard - do be careful if you do suffer from something similar.
As I didn't want to venture too far from what I knew, I ordered the same Chicken Breast but with rice. And this appears to be their winning dish (that I can find). Again, truly impressive.
Overall service could defrost with some work and personally speaking the decor is a bit odd. Bright green plastic awnings with matching tables and chairs, doesn't feel much like a restaurant. Loads of room for improvement.

Not at all impressed. A restaurant that obviously caters for tourists or large groups and whilst they may welcome those that "make an effort with a translating dictionary", they were quite grumpy about having someone who could actually speak Spanish, it upset their sales technique.
We were out of season and the waitress, who appeared to be one of the owners, was very singleminded in her quest to give us what she wanted us to have rather than what we wanted. A lot of what we tried to order was mysteriously "not available" or sold out (there were 10 of us dining that night) and strangely enough some did not receive the starters they ordered, being delivered something else. Quite a few of the main courses had to be returned to the kitchen mostly incorrectly prepared but with the intervention of the bloke who seemed to be in charge, problems were resolved although this did mean some finished before others had started. Unsurprisingly there were not many diners in the place so no excuse for poor service and food quality.
The bill was incorrect but again this was resolved. All in all not a great experience, will definitely not return.
