Plymouth (/ˈplɪməθ/ ( listen)) is a city on the south coast of Devon, England, about 37 miles (60 km) south-west of Exeter and 190 miles (310 km) west-south-west of London. It lies between the mouths of the rivers Plym to the east and Tamar to the west, where they join Plymouth Sound to form the boundary with Cornwall.

Jerry, the Synagogue caretaker, is so knowlegeable about the history of Plymouth, the Synagogue and the Orthodox Jewish community who worshiped there over the centuries and brings it all to life clearly in an interesting and entertaining way. We were there over 2 hours and could easily have spent longer - it was so fascinating and informative. How could I be so familiar with Plymouth and never been to this little gem before?

Pleasant easy hop from Admirals Hard to Mount Edgcumbe. Very cost effective (single fares cost £1.50 for adults, 75p for kids) for the 8 minute journey. The views of the Tamar are a bonus. Sit on the upper deck if the weather allows.

Wow on a normal day, but treble-wow in the teeth of a good storm! There were cloudscapes to rival the seascapes, sun and black shade, and on the incoming tide lots of jellyfish: we got swamped to the knees admiring them! The adjacent cafe is great for thawing and drying out or just refreshments. Really lovely spot!

This is a really nice little place, well off the beaten track. Of course that means driving down country roads, often feeling like you're in the middle of nowhere. Once you arrive of course there will be others around when the weather isn't terrible. Dartmeet itself is an ideal spot to enjoy and picnic and some relaxation time. It's ideal for children, though like generations before them, they'll run the hazard of slipping on the rocks, especially when it's not dry (the water is shallow but the rocks are bulky).
Just one small gripe: there are no bins around except for the gift shop which is clearly marked as a bin for items purchased in the shop only, so bring a bin bag with you.

A superb landscaped park, fallow deer, woodland and coastal walks and marvellous view, combine to make Mount Edgcumbe one of the most spectacular attractions in the West Country at any time of the year. One of only three Grade I Listed Gardens in Cornwall.

The Plymouth Naval Memorial commemorates 7,251 sailors of the First World War and 15,933 of the Second World War. The Memorial is situated centrally on The Hoe which looks directly towards Plymouth Sound. It is accessible at all times. Undisturbed Burrator is surrounded by mixed woodland which sharply contrasts with the open moor and rugged Dartmoor tors. The Reservoir is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders due to its wealth of footpaths and bridleways. Many of the trails lead on to Dartmoor so it makes an ideal starting point for longer trips.The circular walk which follows the lanes around the water is ideal for families as it is easy going and flat. It will take between 1.5 - 2 hours to complete and is approximately 3.5 miles. Parking is possible at various locations including the Quarry car park, Norsworthy Bridge and the Dam.Low cost bank fishing for both rainbow and brown trout is available at this scenic water; permits are sold at the garage in Yelverton.Being within Dartmoor National Park we kindly request that you drive and park with consideration to other users and animals.The National Cycle Route 27 runs near to Burrator further information is available on the sustrans websiteIce cream vans visit the dam, Norsworthy Bridge and Sharpitor car park.

We walk here a lot and enjoy walking the road which is a circular walk and reasonably flat. It is good also to drive partly around the Reservoir and have a walk around the arboretum, this is boarded walkway and can be a little slippery but worth a mooch around. Usually quite a few walkers and doggy walkers and cyclists but a great place to go to
