The restaurant is the only one close to industrial area of Wernshausen cooking fat pork meat . Not accepted credit cards which is unusual in Germany

The location is a forester's lodge. It is very cosy and cabin/ hunter style. Its located in the forest next to a pond and a game enclosure with red deer. If you are lucky you can observe the majestic animals. I visit here on various occasions since I like the food very much. My partner and I always choose the same stuff, I mostly the deer dish with is excellent, surely not extravagant but rather traditional Thuringian cuisine. The owner is friendly the waitresses vary. All in all - if you curious about traditional Thuringian cuisine - this is a good place to try it out!

Die Jägerklause ist weit hinten im Wald Richtung Pfaffenbach. Man kommt dort eher nur mit einem gemütlichen Spaziergang hin, oder nimmt gleich das Auto, und Parkt auf dem anliegendem Parkberreich. Die Gasträume befinden sich im Erdgeschoss eines gröÃerem Hauses und sind simpel eigerichtet. Das Essen überzeugt hier sehr und die PortionsgröÃe auch. Man muss Hunger haben;)

We chose Zum Kirchhof based on its excellent reviews and convenient location. Other guests warned us of the long wait for service, but we chalked that up to the size of the crowd. We placed our orders almost immediately. Our drinks arrived 30 minutes later. Our food came another 20 minutes after that. We both chose the schnitzel based on the answer that it is pan fried as opposed to deep fat fried. Both orders came with potato salad and a mixed green salad. The cutlets appeared to be the usual low-cost pre-breaded compressed meat. It was tender, but did not have the texture of a single piece of meat. The potato salad was good, with a strong taste of dill. The vegetable salad looked and tasted like preserved vegetables served on soggy lettuce. After that meal, we chose to eat dessert elsewhere. This was in no way an excellent or above average meal. It was not even average. I suspect that the slow service was the fault of the kitchen and not the waitress who, despite some confusion, appeared to be working somewhat efficiently. The only positive was the price. If you prefer inexpensive to quality, you might rate Zum Kirchhof average - but certainly no higher.

WIr waren nach dem Rennsteiglauf hier und haben die regionale Küche der Region gekostet. Es war sehr lecker. Service war nett udn freundlich Essen kam recht zügig. Kommen gerne wieder wnn wir in der Gegend sind

Wir waren, anlässlich der diesjährigen "Schmalkalder Genusstour", im Teichhotel zum Mittag und sind nicht enttäuscht worden. Das angebotene Menü war hervorragend abgestimmt und von sehr guter Qualität. Unsere Bedienung war sehr höflich und zuvorkommend. Kurz um, es gab nichts zu meckern und wir können dieses Restaurant uneingeschränkt weiter empfehlen. Vielen Dank an das ganze Team !

Staying at a local hotel we walked into the town it was Sunday and not many places were open the Stadtcafe was a welcome sight we had cakes ice cream and tea very nice outside seating friendly staff lovely location well worth a visit.

Had lunch while on a day-trip from Bavaria. The food was fresh, local and very good. They did good job on the local potato dumplings (Thueringer Kloesse). We had a group of 10, including two babies with highchairs. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The service was effient and pleasant. Outdoor seating is available in the summer. When we came, it was cool and raining, so we sat inside. The atmosphere is typical "Ratskeller" ( the basement of a traditional historic middle age City Hall). This restaurant has my recommendation.

This is a cozy restaurant to dine in. Although it was constructed in the yard between the old truss-work houses in the late 1900s, the style stays with the middle ages. The staff is wonderfully friendly and the food is perfect!
