Wonderful place in Kirchtarten which was surprisingly good. The standard is high with both coziness, service and quality of food. We had pumpkin soup and some different flammkuchen. We weren't hungry to start with but finished all of it easily because it was so tasty. Service was efficient and fast and their homemade lemonade is also really nice and worth going here for alone. All in all we will definitely come back next time we're in the neighborhood.

The place is very modern and really nice to see. The food is ok and the service is fast and very pleasant. People are welcoming you well and with the smile. The waitress has nice tatoos :-)I would recommand to go and gave a look.

This restaurant has a really good quality dishes with a reasonable price. Probably dessert menu could be better but overall is a good experience. Very recommended.

Stumbled upon this place when trying to drive up the hill near the cable car place. Great view, Greta food and fantastic service. We had the Bratwurst with typically German egg noodles. It was perfect!!!

We were 6 adults and 2 children, the latter suffering from gluten intolerance. We all got excellent food - some of us tried the 4 course special Schlegelhof menu, others the Easter menu or dishes from the à la carte menu. Special attention was given to the children. The staff is very attentative and at the same time personal. You really feel at home. This is a place worth visiting many times.

We are visiting friends in Kirchzarten and had a wonderful dinner here. The servers heard us speaking and immediately switched to English. The service was perfect. I had the lamb with roasted potatoes and green beans. Everything was excellent. For dessert I had the creme brûlée with fresh fruit and raspberry sorbet. Delicious! I highly recommend the Sonne.

We went with our son and his girlfriend, who both live in Freiburg, and met another couple (German/American, as my husband and I are as well), so it was a really mixed, fun group. The proprietress is amazing--she cooks everything from scratch, and wow! can she cook!! This is now my favorite place near Freiburg. Lena, our son's girlfriend, says that locals often come here after hiking (and well-behaved dogs are welcome), but we were there well after dark, and it was really full of young, happy people. We had the homemade spätzle and some of us had the wonderful cheese fondue. The Flammkuchen (flatbreads) on the other tables looked amazing, as well. The beer is great, the service in this family-run restaurant is thoughtful and attentive. The prices are more than fair. Please go to this wonderful place!Thank you very much for all the compliments! Despite arriving on a public holiday to a packed cafe, the staff were friendly and quick. We ordered the real Black Forest Gateau - the cherries were generously soaked in local cherry schnapps, the cream was light and the slices were large. For those who prefer something salty, the variety of soups was great as well. Wild garlic, potatoe and leek or clear broth all came with fresh bread and had toppings and seasonings. The portions again were generous. The decor is a modern take on an alm hut with felt chairs, funky cuckoo clocks and milkpans as washbasins in the toilets. Good stuff.

We read that this restaurant has an excellent reputation with great dishes, but nothing prepared us for just how good and creative the food is! Whether you dine inside or on the terrace, the ambiance is enjoyable and the service outstanding. What a joy to get vegetables with colour and crunch that have been thought through to accompany each dish, rather than those that are overcooked. The seasonal specialities are a signature of this restaurant, and we thoroughly enjoyed the choices we made - venison with 'spätzle' and pork knuckle with divine mini rösti potatoes. The wine list is also a treat both from the price and the variety, with many open wines to choose from. We don't normally leave room for desert, but on this occasion, we decided to try the crème brûlée with mirabelle sorbet. Another great choice! Oberried doesn't immediately come to mind when thinking of towns and villages in the Black Forest, but it is definitely worth making the trip there to visit this restaurant and enjoy a delightful culinary experience!

We dined at this restaurant twice. On our first visit the food was good, but the waitress was indifferent and unhelpful. On our second visit, the food was excellent and the waiter was friendly, attentive and very helpful. We ordered the dishes he recommended, and each one was a winner. Overall a good place, but make sure you get the right waiter.
