Starting on the bright side, they do have a nice selection of beers ( been called "beer factory" that's the very least, la it's OK ).. Food ain't great, it ain't bad either, but it's just OK - nothing that would make me want to come back so badly ! Cocktails are close to lousy and the entire place is overpriced! Would not be my first choice and neither I recommend it to anyone who's out there looking for great food ! Ambience is very nice thou -- and sort of strategic location if you just want to wait out the peak traffic hours!

I am living in Alajuela for a year, and of all the places I have been in Costa Rica, La Hendija is one of my favorite food places and definitely my favorite in Alajuela. They have the best tortilla de queso and crema sorbetera I have had in Costa Rica, and overall incredibly delicious typical food. I highly recommend this place! Look no further- it is truly a hole in the wall, very cultural, typical, centrally located near the cathedral, and an incredible deal for incredible food! My favorite! Small place, couple of friendly guys serving. Price are really good based on the amount of food and flavor you get there. Burgers can be big so be careful with what you order. Chipotle sausage is amazing! and adding a few bucks for a big portobello mushroom in your burger is worthless! You have to park your car in the side way. I will go there 1000 times more!
