The Villa Lina is mainly a venue that you can rent for an event such as a wedding or party. However it also has some events that they organise themselves, such as live music nights when a superb meal is also offered. I have now been to two of these and both were great. The meals and wines were excellent and the music and atmosphere were equally good. You need to book in advance for these events. They are advertised on the Villa Lina website and many are already selling out, so if you are in the area its worth checking to see if one is coming up. These events are in the "more formal dining" category, whereas the next two that they offer would be in the "casual, sit-down service" category. They also have some occasional meals that anyone can turn up for. I went to one recently which involved a barbeque and home smoked meat, where the cooking was done outdoors in the grounds and guests could either sit indoors or outside. And I also visited their stall at the BahnFest in Bad Heerenalb. Every time the food has been excellent and good value, and the service friendly and welcoming. This place is a fantastic recent addition to Bad Herrenalb and looks set to be a huge success.

Although it was quite crowded, I was seated. Inside, luckily, for there were several smokers on the terrace. My order was taken, and some 15 minutes later, I could start to eat. I didn't have to use the salt shaker, for the schnitzel was far too salty to my taste. And the French fries... no, not for me. I guess it is the best they can do.

Das Wagnerstüble liegt so versteckt hinter seiner schön bewachsenen Terrasse, dass man fast daran vorbeifährt. Es ist ein gemütliches altes Häuschen, in dem an schönem Blumenschmuck und anderem Dekor nicht gespart wurde; die Grenze zum Kitsch wird hier und da zumindest touchiert. Damit harmoniert auch die 50er-Jahre-Muzak, mit der man leise berieselt wird und die irgendwie an einen Senioren-Tanztee erinnert (Que sera und ähnliche, instrumenalisierte Evergreens) - nicht ganz unser Geschmack. Aber das Essen! Die Speisekarte ist superkurz, ein Mittagsmenü und drei weitere Hauptgerichte, Fisch, Fleisch und vegetarisch. Alles ist regional, und wenn nicht, wird darauf hingewiesen. Wir hatten den Schellfisch und das Entrecôte (das auf der Karte als, ahem, Entrecóté firmierte, was dann aber auch das Einzige war, was man daran hätte auszusetzen können). Zu beiden gab es Kartoffeln und angebratene Spargeln. Es war einfach vorzüglich, man kann es nicht anders sagen. Der reichhaltige, knackige Vorspeisensalat ebenfalls, und schlieÃlich auch die Erdbeeren mit Joghurt-Sahnesauce, die es (alternativlos) zum Nachtisch gab.Es braucht eine Menge Kochkunst und etwas Mut, seine Speisenauswahl dermaÃen zu beschränken, und hier funktioniert das Konzept tadellos. Schön, dass wir dieses Lokal endlich für uns entdeckt haben.
