Where to eat Contemporary food in Newcastle upon Tyne: The Best Restaurants and Bars

October 28, 2019 Misti Hsu

Discover Restaurants offering the best Contemporary food in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom. Once a shipbuilding city, Newcastle's flashier claim to fame is nightlife. Throw in a heap of premium restaurants serving foods from all over the world and it's no wonder young partiers choose to blow their hard-earned (or not-so-hard-earned) cash in Newcastle. While these amenities are certainly a draw for the hipsters and culture-seekers, it's the locals that make Newcastle a truly special place to visit. "Geordies," as they are often called, embody the pride, industriousness and resilient spirit of their city.

We luckily managed to get in at Blackfriars with a last minute booking and I am so glad we did! One of the best meals we have had at a restaurant in a very long time, delicious and presented beautifully. The places itself is beautiful, it's exactly the sort of decor we love, very homely (cosy)! We chose a red wine from the list but was recommended another bottle by the staff which we went with (cheaper) and it was absolutely delicious, it went down a treat! Thanks again to all the staff for being so friendly and the kitchen staff for making our night with some of the best food weve had xThank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your recent visit to BlackfriarsWe are glad you had an enjoyable evening for your anniversary celebrations and we hope to see you again in the near future. Kindest regardsCharlotte
