We really enjoyed our breakfast at this comfortable restaurant situated in the very poplar Best Western Barclay Hotel. The server was really friendly and helped us understand how the beautiful art connected to the area - a truly proud Port Alberni resident. She made us feel glad to have visited her beautiful town and restaurant. They serve solid breakfast fair, generous servings, good coffee, no complaints! Can be a bit noisy... kids in the play area. Small cozy diner, soup needed reheating, sandwiches quite tasty and filled with fresh ingredients. Friendly server, prompt service.You caught us in the midst of a rush, and we certainly appreciated your patience while we made sure your order was just right! We came here as a group of five and reserved ahead of time. Glad we did! It got quite busy within a 1/2 hour of our seating. 3 of us had the pasta special which was absolutely delicious and the other 2 had hamburgers ( even accommodated the fussy eater). The alcohol was a bit pricey. Service from reservations, order to table was excellent. It was nice to chat with Ross (owner) making us feel special. If this continues as an upward trend, it could be Port Alberniâs number one restaurant. I wish them all the success and canât wait to eat here again. Location is awesome m, enroute to the West coast and scenery of lake and mountains are truly magnificent.Thanks Very MuchIt was a busy yet wonderful evening, Thanks to our truly loyal supporters who stopped by on our wonderful buy busy opening night. J&L is on my hit list in travelling through to the West Coast of the Island. Straight foreward burger fries and shake. I have a background in hospitality. There is a tall brunette girl who was dealing with a abusive customer. I was at the point of getting involved, but was in awe of her absolute professionalism in dealing with this difficult situation. It is a rarity to have such dignified, respectful, responses throughout this ordeal with what I assume are minimum wage employees. I have always had very good service at J&L over the years. Kudos to this staff member who was so level headed and made our brief drive in visit a positive. Management should be proud.

We were excited to take our niece from Texas to a seafood restaurant in Port Alberni. The restaurant had good reviews. When we arrived at 6:30 there were several tables outside in a pleasant setting. Not too many customers. We waited over 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food. Finally we found the server and asked her when dinner would come. She said the restaurant was overwhelmed by the number of people who arrived at once. This was not evident. Not once did she come to check water or speak to us about the wait. The clams come with two small pieces of grilled baguette. When we asked for two more pieces , we received an extra charge. Imagine after such a long wait.

Been here before and the view is very nice, and the candied salmon chowder is why I come back. The service is ok, but our server was a little over the top nice, I know that sounds weird, but it was kinda phoney. She did ok, but just be yourself. My biggest complaint is the bathroom, it was almost as bad as a gas station washroom! I used the womenâs upstairs and was shocked how in poor shape it is and it doesnât look that clean either. The restaurant itself is nice and the bathroom does not reflect that. The lettuce was wilted in my beet salad. BTW, should always ask if we want ice in our water or not, donât assume. A little pricey for what we got.Hello Janine, You had our Server Shyanne, she is a very bubbly and genuine person. We love having us work with us. She is herself everyday - that is who she is and we love her for it.We are aware our washrooms need updating but they are cleaned daily.We fill all the guests water glasses with ice water and find most people are happy with that however, if someone would like water without ice they just let the server know and we provide ice-free water no problem. We stopped here because we had a taste for Halibut. It was amazing. Perfecting seasoned and cooked, didn't even need the delicious sauces. The prawns were also amazing, and we ordered another skewer. Plus the house wine was delicious and generous. If we lived here, this would be our "to go" place for fresh fish, but alas we live in Illinois and will have to enjoy the memories of this lovely little restaurant on Vancouver island. Thank you for making our last day so delicious.

We always enjoy going to Pescadores when we are driving through on our travels. It is consistently friendly with a warm welcome. The food is always fresh and excellent.We recently went for breakfast and ordered pancakes and eggs benny. Absolutely wonderful!! Meals are served hot and with great efficiency too. Nice decor and interior too.
