"Jacob's Memorial"; often shortened to just Zikhron; Arabic: زخرون يعكوف) is a town in Israel, 35 kilometres (22 mi) south of Haifa, and part of the Haifa District. It is located at the southern end of the Carmel mountain range overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, near the coastal highway (Highway 2). It was one of the first Jewish settlements of Halutzim in the country, founded in 1882 by Baron Edmond James de Rothschild and named in honor of his father, James Mayer de Rothschild. In 2016 it had a population of 22,660.

Is the Hobbit the best evening entertainment option in Zichron? Quite possibly. Is it because it's just that great? Far from it. In this sleepy artist's colony nightlife is a tough find, especially in winter months. The Hobbit became our evening destination and not because of the wonderful ambiance, incredible drinks, or good time crowd. In a town bereft of options to get loose until bed, the Hobbit is your best bet, though hardly a ringing endorsement. The space is your classic dive bar with an oddly constructed sloped floor (you almost feel as though the whole place will tumble down a hill), sticky tables, your standard bar menu, and a small cast of characters cycling in and out. Quite simply it's a bit of a bore though if anyone has found a better way to kill an evening in Zichron, do let us know.

been there twice with a group of friends. small, you can sit inside or out in the evening, small plates of cheese and cuts, good bread, amazing selection of Portugal wines that will take you in total surprise, friendly hosting and fair prices. loved it!

You can't go wrong if you choose to go to Uma. Located in the historic center of Zichron Yaakov, the bar's ambience appeals to young and not-so-young alike. It is our "cheers"--but even more. The cocktails are great, the waitstaff is also eager to give you one on the house--and drink with you! And the sushi is definitely the best in town.
