Poor breakfast and small rooms

Reviewed By nonamefound111

The rooms are a bit dark and there is not much space, but the common areas compensate that to a certain extend. The staff was really nice and helpful, but breakfast was rank, they could as well just lump it. A positive thing was the great location though.

Austrian Hospice

European hostel in Israel

Reviewed By Itamar L

A European hospitality in the old city of Jerusalem with a private compound that separates the hostel from the street. The room was a large one.. more than 20 square meters. The room itself is not that comfortable.. with huge pillows, no kitchen or even a kettle to make tea.. there’s no tv but that was ok by us. There was hot water to shower but the current was mild. The heat is great and we didn’t feel the cold outside. The staff was very kind and allowed a late checkout without additional fee. A basic breakfast with great coffee. The worst thing for me was the 5am prayer from the adjacent mosque… take it into consideration. All in all a fair place to stay if you are in low budget and want to experience the old city atmosphere.

Very basic hotel/hostel, with great value! The rooms are very clean and comfortable, but a little bit tiny. There is free parking lot, with few places, but at the the street you have much more. Very close to everything in Jerusalem!

They offer free coffe, milk, cocoa and orange juice. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpfull, from the desk to the guy that cleans the rooms. Location is great, with just 10 minutes from the places of interest. Please don't hesitate to book here

Good hostel. It's more private/quaint than other hostels. I stayed here one night after coming back from Petra. The dormitory rooms are small but comfortable and the rooftop is in a good location for people watching (to take in the culture).

Is it worth 125$ a night? not really

Reviewed By Dan M

I was there in August, and the location is excellent, so why such a bad rating? Because when I booked my room I had asked for a quiet one. What I actually got was right on the street, above the very noisy adjoining crossroad with all the buses and bikes starting their engine at the traffic light.. I asked for a quieter one...which I got and at at first , but then it appeared that early in the morning (around 6:30am) it became awfully noisy as it was just above the reception and the entrance to the dining room. Another bad point: the service was non-existent. No towels, no soap, I had to go down to the reception to ask for one. One correction regarding the Free parking mentioned on the page: only a dozen spaces available (I was lucky enough to get the last one) So yes the location is quite good and the breakfast good, but for the price paid (125$ for one guest) you can find many more better options in the center of the city.

The hostel was okay but I realized on my last day there that there was a camera in the dorm room. I think this is a huge violation of privacy. Cameras should not be allowed in dorm rooms where people sleep and change clothes, etc.
