Some friends and myself were walking around after a long day without knowing very well Saint Louis. It was getting late and we were looking for something cheap to eat. In the crowded streets, a guy approached us saying that he had a Restaurant close by. The guy seemed pretty chilled and honest (not very usual within the street "sellers") and we decided to follow his advice and follow him to his Restaurant. The place is very humble and simple but two things surprised us: they do other things rather than "Yasa Poulet" or "Poisson avec ris" and there is a ventilator which comes helpful in mid-August. The food was tasty and he was extremely kind with us. Besides, he offered himself to prepare next morning's breakfast and we went for it...Next morning - for slightly more than one euro each - he prepared big omelette sandwiches and "café au lait" for each of us. Finally, he invited all of us to try his delicious homemade "Jus de Bissap". The only thing to take into consideration is that they are rather slow since it is only him and his wife working there. Therefore, if you are in a rush, you are looking for something classy or you're just ready to spend more and go for a safest bet this is not your place. If these are not your circumstances I'd definitely recommend it!

Le Reveil is a little gem. Mawdo, the owner, cook and waiter, is the most welcoming person in Saint Louis. Always smiling and keen to please The food is always good, honest and very reasonable - the best value for money in town. We were in Saint Louis for 2 weeks and ate there every other day. Always a pleasure, felt at home.

This popular restaurant has a good atmosphere. It provides traditional Senegalese dishes that are well worth trying. The service was good compared to that which we experienced in many other places in Senegal.

If you fancy good local food in modest surroundings this is the place. We had poisson yassa and poisson saintlouisienne - fresh fish as the africans eat it. Very good, very cheap. Also the tamarind juices were nice.

Nice seafood meal from the "menu du jour". The service was good, but the views even better. And the bridge designed and built by Eiffel,(but initially intended to be installed in Budapest, that due to a shipping error ended up in the capital of the old French West African Territories)

We happened upon this small humble restaurant and gave it a try. The lovely owner, Soda, prepared our meals herself, but all was delicious. My son love the crevettes (shrimp) with thiou sauce, the crepe salee (with egg and sauce) was a nice light dish, but the poulet panee (fried chicken) is the house special with no greasy breading! We went back many times, as this was one of our favorite places to eat Senegalese fare.

The restaurant La Linguere next to the Hôtel de la résidence caters to lokals and tourists a like with a menu focused on Senegalease dishes as well as some international classics.Coming highly recommended I ordered Yassa Poulet and was somewhat disappointed. While the rice was good and the sauce had just enough onions and acid the chicken was dry and left something to be desired.I still think La Linguere might be worth a visit to get a taste for senegalese kitchen.
