You see the church, but notice the vikings trace in the nearby country. The church is located in one of North Sealands most beautiful arears.

Sandflugtsmonumentet

Reviewed By vikingtraveller07 - Frederiksberg, Denmark

The monument celebrates the planting of a forest in the moving sand dunes of Tisvilde in the 18th century. The brain behind it was one Johan Ulrich Røhl (1675?-1754) who was called in by Frederik IV. The stone is triangular with three inscriptions in German (the international language of the times), Latin (the academic language of the times) and Danish. Most interesting is that the three texts differ (besides, the German and Danish texts rhyme), especially in the attribution of praise to the king, Røhl and an otherwise forgotten local administrator, Gram.

I work as a tourist guide, local guide and tour leader for both danish and foreign tourists and tourists groups in Copenhagen and in Denmark. I arrange customized walking tours on which I show areas of Copenhagen before and now that you normally do not experience, and the history is mixed up with all the exciting new things happening where ever we go. Call or write to me for tour proposals.
