Tighnabruaich; (/ˌtaɪnəˈbruːəx/ ( listen); Scottish Gaelic: Taigh na Bruaich) is a village on the Cowal peninsula, on the western arm of the Kyles of Bute in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Great couple of hours, informative sight seeing around a few small Islands. Then an hours fishing, once we'd found the right spot, caught quite a few! Took 4 home for lunch. Donald and Thomas both great with the kids, who didn't want to go and loved it. Bounced off the boat with joy, as they'd both had a drive. Would definitely recommend it.

Been a great fan of this quirky sculpture park in this fantastic setting, So good to see it reopen this year with re investments, new works and even another gallery. As I was inspired here by previous Rob Mulholland Sculptures (and indeed commissioned) it is great to see 'Female', though i will have to do a tide check to make the most of the 'Pebble' another day. My most sincere thanks.

Tarbert Castle

A relatively easy walk up steps and a path, we saw a couple of old ladies walking up with sticks at a leisurely pace so it is doable. Well worth it at the top. A nice little castle ruins with great views over the harbour, ferry and the Mull of Kintyre. If you go to Tarbert, you need to make the effort to go up and admire the views.

There has to be something here for everyone! It's years since I visited Tarbert but this is the one place that had stuck in my memory - beautiful art work and a good selection of jewellery by well known and respected artists and jewellers. Arran Aromatics products, quirky cards and handcrafts fill the shelves. An interesting place to browse and shop.

I attended the candle making workshop last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Workshop lasted a couple of hours, during which time I got to check out all of the lovely oils and the background to their benefits, we selected our blends and got down to work, setting the wicks (not as easy as you would think), melting the wax and blending our oils, on waiting for the finished product to set, we were offered lots of lovely nibbles and refreshments and had a right good chat with others. Bonus was you got to take your creation home, excellent value for money. Kirsty sure does make it an interesting gathering, and I am grateful for her knowledge and input when choosing what aroma's best suited my needs and tastes. A fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon

Fantastic trip out on Loch Fyne with Fyne Sea Tours, courtesy of Martin and Janine. Janine's informed commentary about the area was exemplary. Explored bays on Loch Fyne that you just can't get to by road. Saw loads of sea life; especially seals. The best way to see this lovely part of the world. Thoroughly recommend Fyne Sea Tours!

Unfortunately I couldn't get to these coves. The weather was really wet and we were advised not to try and clamber over the rocks to get to them. We took their advice after seeing the amount of water coming off the hills and rushing over the roads and rocks. I got the history from a local as to why the coves are covered in shells standing up like soldiers, all very interesting. Will I try again to get to the coves? Yes I will if the weather allows.

The Corner House

The Corner House is the life and soul of the Tarbert social scene. A traditional pub with an excellent welcoming landlord, Duggie MacNeill. The Corner House stocks a wide range of beers and lagers, both draft and bottled, if a spirit is your choice you will not be disappointed. Pool and darts are available and a regular quiz night is held on Friday nights. Duggie and his team are renowned for their fundraising for good causes and their support for the community. A welcome stop off whenever I am in Tarbert.
