Chateau Zegaani

Chateau Zegaani is a wine estate built in 1820 by Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, a great political and cultural figure of the 19th century, as well as the founder of Georgian viticulture. The Chateau is located in Kakhetia, the main wine-producing region of Georgia. Today it is a great historic and architectural asset for studying the development of wine-making in the region and provides evidence of the significant French influence in the process. Alexander Garsevanovich Chavchavadze built the estate in the fashion of the majority of French wine chateaux of the early 19th century upon his return from France. This is precisely why the castle in Zegaani, Kakhetia, is also referred to as Chateau.

If you travel to Georgia you must visit this place. I'm so happy we stayed here and had the chance to meet this generous unique family. The house is beautiful, you'll have it all to yourself and everything you need. Dinner and breakfast was delicious - don't miss out. They make their own wine, chacha, vodka and spoil their guests with it, so you'll have a good night sleep :) This is one of a kind experience, and one of the best we had. Big thanks to Beka, his amazing parents and sister ❤ (And the cat and the dogs ????)

Cradle of Wine Marani (Winery)

Due to the current situation, we are prepared to deliver our wines to customers within Georgia as well as to selected destinations internationally. Our winery/tasting room is located in Sighnaghi. We also take this opportunity to thank the thousands of customers who have visited us over the last five years for your interest, friendship and support. We hope to see or hear from you again some day soon! Our natural wines continue to be made in qvevri by fermenting the juice of the grapes on their skins, seeds and pulp (chacha) in the 8,000+ year old Kakhetian tradition.

We passed by for a wine tasting and we were lucky enough to catch this year's wine harvest! We ended up spending a lovely evening chatting with Paul and the other visitors, learning about Georgian history, the wine culture and having the pleasure of tasting delicious wines, prepared by the traditional Georgian method (yum!) Thanks for a lovely evening to all. Helen and Thomas
