Masaki Art Museum

Reviewed By Kwakaku - Sakai, Japan

The chilly sea winds were swirling along the street of a port town, Tadaoka Town. After driving down out of a transportation highway, I was in the middle of a township with houses, small factories, and residences. Masaki Art Museum was attached to one of those residences.
Takayuki Masaki (1895-1985) became rich with those factories and accumulated more than 1,300 objects, including three Japanese National Treasures. In 1968, he established Masaki Art Museum in Tadaoka Town, Semboku County, Osaka Prefecture, in order to exhibit his collection.
Every time I visit the museum, I am surprised at how knowledgeable the curator is, or rather I have been allured with some themes she has set up.
The museum is not so large in size, and its exhibition rooms are small and few. In addition, compared to the collections by financial conglomerates, their items are not plenty in quantity. However, the curator always presents unique and attractive themes, each of which lets visitors realize an essential aspect of East Asian cultures.
If you visit the museum, Reading this preview, you might be a foreign sightseer. I guarantee you never fail to grasp just one hidden side of Japanese culture.

Kishiwada Castle

Reviewed By AraleMelbourne - Australia

We were on our way back from Kansai Airport to Namba when we stopped at Kishiwada to see the castle there. We couldn't find any English Review of the castle and the castle did not rank highly on tourist attraction. We had some extra time so we decided to stop by.
The Castle is about 7 mins easy walk from the Kishiwada station. The castle grounds are beautiful and the simple fact that this isn't a popular tourist attraction meant you had ample space and time to take really lovely pictures. There are very lovely cherry blossoms surrounding the castle and the quietness of the castle grounds was surreal.
We spent more time than we expected there simply because it was so lovely. We were quite hesitant to leave (but for the time slipping by). We highly recommend this especially if you are a photographer.

Negoro-ji Temple

Reviewed By Jacqui M - Osaka, Japan

This is a gem of a place off the beaten track but really surprisingly easy to access by car. It's a huge temple complex and grounds with a small creek running through it. There are several thousand trees many of them cherry blossoms so it would look spectacular in spring. Right now I am looking forward to seeing the leaves changing next month (November I would guess would be a good time). The temple buildings and Gardens are immaculate.
It has a large free car park. Toilets. Possibly a souvenir shop though it was closed on Saturday. Right now they are doing some renovations so some areas were closed. Still it was peaceful to stroll around the tree-lined paths. A few people had bento lunches on the park benches.
It's free to walk around. If you want to get closer to the temple there is a nominal fee of perhaps about 500 yen.
