It really worth the distance to get here. The cave is beautiful with some Buddha statues all over! You’ll get there and have a nice view of the forest! We really enjoy there and try to find a better road from Hpa An downtown as it is very sand... get a boat in the end it really worth it.

Mount Zwegabin

A tough slog for a couple of geriatrics (65 and 66 years old). Got the heart rate going heading uphill and hard on the knees coming down. About an hour and forty minutes both ways. We love led looking up at the pagoda on top the rest of our stay in Hpa An, knowing we had been up there! Did not like the garbage but otherwise well worth it. Monks, monkeys and views at the top.

The place is nice but you won’t spend so much time there. Nice Pagoda on the top of the rock in the middle of the water. And great view of the mount Zwegabin. Nice to stop there and take a fire picture

As soon as we enter Hpa-An city just before Thanlwin River and Bridge, we should visit here. 7th Century plaster paintings of many hundred of Buddhas can be seen in the roof of the lime stone at Kawgun Cave. Bee hivex are hanging too innthe walls. Buddha images are built in different styles and it says archtectural designs from many ages. Monkey population is growing fast and local oilgrims feef them. Entrance fee is 3000 Myanmar Kyat per foreign visitors. A perfect spot to take break and have lunch at Thai Village Restaurant, serving many dishes in Thai style and Burmese foods.

We arrived right on time, just after the sun set. Thousands of bats left the cave. It lasts for around 15 minutes, maybe a little longer. Make sure you are not too late.

We thoroughly enjoyed our full day tour with Diamond. He is an excellent guide. He speaks very good English, is charming and is very knowledgable about Myanmar's history and culture. After leaving Hpa An the route soon goes onto quiet country tracks which have great views of the wonderful landscape. We visited Kaw Ka Thaung cave, a Karen village where a lovely lady made us lunch, Sadan Cave and finally Kyauk ka Katy Pagoda for sunset. A perfect day!

Most of local people come and enjoy their time for sunset(especially young people). Historically, the status of Frog and NaGar(Fire-breathing snake) tell the story of the town, why it is called Hpa-An. Near the pagoda, can see the old jetty where used to be the jetty for ship to Mawlamyaing(Now people use the land transportation). There also can see some women washing their clothes at the bank of the Thanlwin river.
