Bergwerk Kapfnach

A small electrical train takes visitors to see the old coal mines not in use anymore since World War II. Mines and visitor service are maintained by a team of volunteers. We did enjoy our visit, interesting and good learning experience. I would not recommend it for children younger than 5 years and visitors must not suffer from claustrophobia. At the time we visited tours for the general public were offered only on Saturday's at 13:00 and there is a charge of CHF 15.- per adult. Group tours can be booked at other times.

The place exceeded expectations regarding the number of animals available to see. All are typical animals for the area - bear, wolf, boar, deer, marmot. It is a large outdoor zoo. Not the most modern, but a popular spot with locals and a good place to hike. It is free and a short train ride from the city center. It was good to get out of the city and enjoy part of the countryside around Zurich.

Park im Gruene

Reviewed By davidneil - Felsham, United Kingdom

We spent a peaceful afternoon here before driving back to England the following day, in the dog days of late August on a beautiful late summer's day.
It had been a stressful time. We were visiting an extremely ill close relative, sadly no longer with us, and this was just a chance to chill out and reflect before we left Switzerland.
When you enter this park, you basically leave a supermarket car park, go under an underpass, enter the park...and suddenly you're in an oasis of peace and calm.
At the end of the park there are stunning views over Lake Zurich from some picnic tables.
There is also a children's play area, a pretty good restaurant/café and a little train, not working on the day we visited. There was also a type of stone monument, not sure what, that could be climbed for more great views of the lake and surrounding countryside.
Just before we left there was a type of giant Go-Kart race between teams of locals that had made their own Karts...all great community fun.
A lovely place to spend our last day on Lake Zurich leaving fond memories of late summer 2016, and of a dear departed relative.

Finished...MoreJ, It was a great session we had and i'm so happy you enjoyed the food and the leftovers for so many nights. I look forward to having another great session with you. Park Seleger Moor

Reviewed By FormerCaliBoy - Zurich, Switzerland

Seleger Moor can actually be accessed with public transit from the main Zurich train station utilizing train S9 (Affoltern), then transfer to local bus #223 (direction am albis Post) to Seleger Moor. This journey will take about 45 minutes. Also, check the return bus schedule as it only runs every hour. Seleger Moor is open daily from 08-18.00 April through October and entrance fee is 10CHF. Arriving by car, there is a large parking lot. Inside the park there are several places to purchase food & beverages and toilets on premises.
I made my first visit in April and not too many of the plants were blooming so I made it a point to return again, this time in late May. The park in general is very large with paved main trails and side trails lined of wooden mulch. The parks is very nice for a family outing, but keep a close eye on the young ones as there are several larger ponds and creeks on the grounds. The place is a real paradise for the many birds, frogs, and insects you will see and hear along the trails. Take a seat on one of the many benches throughout the park and enjoy the atmosphere.
In my opinion, the prime time of year to visit for the flowers in full bloom would be middle to late May. Also, if you arrive before 09.00 (weekends included) you will most likely have the park to yourself. Allow up to two hours to view the park at a faster pace, more time if you are taking breaks, picnics or lots of photos.

Wyden Badi is a tiny wooden bath with steps leading down to the lake. It also has a tiny little garden. There is a little kiosk selling beautiful freshly made salads and some other simple dishes, including drinks, wine, beer and coffee.
It's the tiny little gem on the lake, mostly known to locals.

The drive to the caverns was through a long and skinny forest road, just when I thought I was going the wrong way, we finally arrived.
The self-guided tour doesn't take that long, but it is pretty interesting to see how the various structures were created over time. There are two parts to the cavern, and upper and lower section.

You can walk up or take the Little ride from Zürich main Station. The last bit to the top do you have to walk, but you'll be rewarded with amazing views over the City, the lake and the surrounding area. From here you can walk further over the hillridge
