This review is a bit late, but I had to share the wonderful experience we had with Toby. My husband and I spent two days in late September 2016 with Toby. Beginning to end we enjoyed Toby's knowledge and gentle manner. We had been booked on several tours ahead of time (Ballindollach, Balvenie) and dropped in at many other Distilleries. Both of those tours were once in a lifetime experiences. It really showed us the spectrum of Distilleries in the Speyside Area. Other highlights were the Cooperage and lunch at Glenfiddich (the wonderful Cullen Skink!). Toby took us sightseeing around Speyside, and I cannot describe the beauty of this area and do it any justice. It was like a dream. Toby, my friend, we will be back! This distillery is, as I can recall, the only one in Scotland that remains in the family since its foundation. So you can learn there how is keeping a distillery through the years, how the business evolved... And taste a different and non-very commercial whisky. My personal choice is the 10 years old, not so strong as the 15th o others.

This is really a review of the Highland market, but I believe its the same business as the adjacent and connected Whisky Castle.
We dropped in for lunch on Sunday afternoon, and were blown away by the service (friendly and professional), the food (lovely thick soup and nice fresh sandwiches) the price (reasonable) and the coffee/cake - fresh and delicious, and served with hot milk without having to ask. On top of that the toilet was SPOTLESS, as was the cafe.
The connected shop is full of interesting quality items, and the Whisky Castle is not to be missed. Can't wait to return - KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Caorunn experience this afternoon. 1.5 hours of informative discussion and engagement led by Emma our guide. The visit included seeing the local botanical being grown, a chance to smell all of the botanical used, info on the Distilling method and plant used. Then a chance to put your nose and tongue against the gin masters to gauge the taste and smell of the botanical in a measure of great gin. The tour then finished with a perfect gin and tonic and the chance to buy some goodies. Great afternoon and exceptional value for money.

We have seen more than 40 Distilleries but we must say this was the not in our top but more at the bottom. Let we start to tell that the whisky is very good so that’s not the problem. Also the tasting at the end of the tour is good. Wat was not good; we didn’t feel wanted customers. Us was not told what to do or not but more commanded. It was the tone what wasn’t nice. We couldn’t make any pictures inside. This isn’t allowed at more Distilleries but the reason was safety of flammable gases (alcohol). This was a very strange reason because we see open electricity boxes where more change of spark was then all the camera’s together. Beside that there were al kind of electrical things on the desk with not any security for sparks. For example, a little air vent was on a table and this gives much electrical sparks. Again, it was the tone it was told us. During the tour we asked a worker who was sitting at a computer some things what we see, like a temperature on the display. Also this was not appreciated. Sorry but we fled not wanted. We would buy some things in the shop but went away after the tasting, very disappointed. Specially because we had booked the tour some months before and hoped to get something better.

A very informative and well organised tour. Michelle was fantastic during the tour and beforehand giving me some excellent guidance on accommodation and eating out in the area. We took advantage of the whisky meal she organised, which was splendid. If you like your whisky, there was a varied selection of samples given during the walk, with lots of background about the distillers and the whisky.

It’s not a big place but this community wood offers peace and quiet. Beautiful pine wood with red squirrels (we saw 6) and birds. Worth taking a small detour to the banks of the Spey. Beautiful.

We use Land Rovers and environmentally friendly Argocat 8 wheel drive vehicles to transport clients on a selection of whisky smuggling themed tours within the Cairngorms National Park. Although our tours specialise in whisky smuggling, they include distillery visits, wildlife and stunning scenery. We cater for corporate events to a maximum of 40 persons. We provide high quality picnics of Scottish Fayre to compliment your experience. We were 2015 Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards Finalists in the 'Best Outdoor Adventure' category and 2017 winners of the Spirit of Speyside Awards 'Best New Event' category. We thoroughly enjoyed our trek, our guide was very knowledgeable, thoughtful and good at making us feel comfortable and well taken care of -very nice people. The ArgoCat is, I can't lie, very bouncy and slow going but pretty much what I expected going over the hills - they are after all wild and natural! I can't imagine trying to walk up so the ArgoCat was exactly what was needed and did the job well. The views from the top were simply amazing, the whole valley stretched out below, the misty hills off in the distance. We love Scotland and this was a wonderful way to see it. After the hill ascent we had lunch in the bothy. The bothy was so cute and decked out with all manner of comforts, they hosts really thought of everything. We dined by candlelight, a little stove giving off plenty of heat in the corner. The lunch was AMAZING! Hot delicious soup, cheese and pickle Sandwich on wonderful brown bread, hot tea and coffee followed by some very excellent cake. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this trek. Enjoy! I know we did!

When we initialled called at this distillery the lady had unfortunately nipped out of the shop so we missed her. We went back the next day and because we had mentioned at another distillery that nobody was at Cragganmore when we went the lady spoilt when we went back the following day. The whiskies that we tried were extremely good, so good in fact that we bought 2. It's a bit off the beaten track down a little road, through a tiny village but it's worth it just to try their delicious whiskies. Go you won't be disappointed.

Took the children up the red to Carn Daimh. Very clever how the trail winds its way up to the top with out bursting you.
On route to the top one of the forestry contractors was maintaining the verges with a pretty vicious rotating chain machine. The chap operating could not have been more courteous towards us as he powered down his machine as we approached, thumbs up for my 10 yr old boy as we passed.
Great to see that forestry operations can be down safely and with respect with cyclists in the vicinity. The guy in question was a credit to how forestry operations can be safely managed and how cyclists or walkers can still access the environment safely as he operated his machinery. The Forestry Commission should come to Glenlivet and see how it should be done.
Couple of years since we were last here and the benches are a great addition at the top of the mountain.
Trails in great condition. Very clever that riders of any ability can do the red run. 'Chicken runs' on every difficult bit on the trail, sounds such negative terminology but it means that a family of any ability can descend a great trail and everyone has had fun. Glenlivet have nailed it for a family day out. Top marks to all those who maintain and thought up the trail.
