Gjethuset

Reviewed By Gunnar G - Copenhagen, Denmark

The city of Frederiksværk played an important role in Denmarks industrial development more than 200 years ago. Today you can experience this role in several ways in Frederiksværk, among other in the old planning of the city, in the canal linking the city with Arresø (Denmarks largest lake) and in several buildings in the city, among other the 250 years old building Gjethuset. Today it serves as an exhibition and concert hall. During July it has a festival with classical music with several well known artists at a high international level.

The Gunpowder Mill Museum

For more than 200 years, from its foundation in 1758, the Gunpowder Works in Frederiksværk was the principal supplier of gunpowder and explosives to the Danish armed forces. This open air museum offers a unique glimpse into the history of the manufacture of explosives as well as the process of industrialisation in Denmark.

Interesting industrial site showing production of gunpowder. The buildings and production equipment are well kept and make an educational setting for families. It's easy to get engaged in the history just watching the different buildings, functions and equipment. Some are in movement showing how the mill has worked which makes it even more 'real'.
Interesting place for families with small children.
It's accessible for baby prams but not particularly easily accessible for wheelchairs.

Asserbo Golf Club

Reviewed By kandt43 - Liseleje, Denmark

Asserbo Golf Course (AGC) is a very interesting place to play. The course is very undulated and plays with a lot of blind holes. Therefore, from the scorecard, it's not difficult but once you start playing you will realize it is not easy. The course has had some upgrades over the years and they are all to the better. The nature surrounding AGC is quite amazing and on clear days you will realize why. The 19'th hole is a good restaurant with a lot of Danish favorites. Prices are reasonable and the beer is plentiful and cold. The Proshop has recently been upgraded and stands out as one of the better ones. Have a good game.

Kregme Church

Reviewed By Margit P - Hampshire, UK

This is the church I got married in back in 1982. It is in a beautiful position on top of a small hill with great views. Apparently the church tower is built towards west, whereas most other churches in Denmark has the church tower pointing east. Very pretty.

Frederiksvaerk Havn A.m.b.a.

Reviewed By Adele H - Copenhagen, Denmark

This is actually a very pretty, modern and well kept harbour - unfortunately loomed over by the close-by steel mill. Still, the place has a cafe (Cafe Havnekrogen), fish shop, bike rental, playground and facilities for when nature calls. Parking is convenient and several places.

Groennehavegaard Besoegsgaard

Reviewed By SusanEspergaerde - Espergaerde

I visited the farm with my friend's kids age 3,5 and 4,5 years old. We enjoyed the visit to the fullest, and the weather was splendid, which made our visit even more pleasant.
This is a MUST for tourists with small kids, and you definitely need a car to get there. The farm is quite big. There are Scottish Cattle, ducks, geese, cats, kittens, a huge and adorable New Foundlander, rabbits, ponies, etc.
You pay 75 kr. for the entrance, and the price covers the tour with the farmer, where the kids have the opportunity to feed the animals, a tractor tour to see and feed the charming Scottish Cattle, a pony tour. You can sit on a bench and fondle the pets, cute rabbits, kittens, hamsters etc. You can buy soft drinks, coffee, tea and organic cakes. Highly recommended.
