Parque das Aguas

Reviewed By GUSDALI - Rio de Janeiro, RJ

After many years we came back to this park and city and unfortunetelly we found a very sad scenery of decadence by this old charming town.
Despite that, we did had a reasonably good time inside the park, strolling by its paths and experiencing different types and flavors of mineral waters.
We hope authorites pay more attention to such an important treasure for the local culture and improve things there.
Anyway, it is worth a visit.

Reviewed By MCNICE9 - Easton, Maryland

The Church history is one that is well treasured by Caxambu town. The Church was a gift from Princess Isabel to the town is celebration to her pregnancy. Princess Isabel visited Caxambu in 1868 with hopes that its hydromineral waters would help her realize her dream of becoming pregnant to the trone's heir. It was built on a hill overlookng the town with the support of Princess Isabel friends and the town. The Church has a neogothic style. It has a bluish interior color due to the blue colored vitrals. It carries a simple altar and has a nicely carved Christ in the background. From town, one can reach the church by car or walk the 126 nicely painted steps. We were greated by a nurse that works in the hospital nearby. She was getting the image of Santa Isabel ready for the Easter parade. I was amazed by her caring act of dressing Santa Isabel's for the event. She did herself looked like a saint. The view form the Church front yard are nice. Once can see the entire town from there.

Mirante do Morro do Caxambu

Reviewed By Arrastape - Petaluma, California

If you walk around the Parque das Aguas or if you approach the park from (Avenida José Pereira Leite) the opposite site of the main entrance (Rua João Carlos), you will come across a ski-lift which has recently been refurbished. This will take you to the Mirante do Morro do Caxambu where you have almost a 360 degree view of the city. There is also a restaurant that serves lunch.

Caxambu Museum

Reviewed By mesquitta2016 - Uberlandia, MG
