This tour was not my list even though I knew about it. It rained so we did it. OH MY GOD, wow that was time well spent. The travel distance going into the mine was unbelieveable. Seemed it went on forever. The slide was so smooth, something you can not do in the states, we went down as a family. That was fun to be together to experience. Well worth your time. In fact we are going back to the region and I have researched other salt mines and we are going to them also.

Beautiful setting, however little time to enjoy the inside, reduced areas to visit - the guide tour was too short and frustrating, considering the price. What you are allowed to see is what there is in every book or brochure, the rest is closed to the public. A shame and sham.

Great day trip from Munich. I always wondered why so many fairy tales originate from Germany. Well, all those castles answer the questions.

Absolute Best Experience while in Europe! After much research, my family booked this tour with Stefan before we left the United States. You never know quite what to expect doing this, but I am SO GLAD we did! Even before the date of the tour, we received communication from Stefan concerning our itinerary and what to expect. Stefan arrived ahead of time at our hotel in Munich, and greeted us with a huge smile, extremely clean automobile, and fresh, cold water for all! He was so open to creating an experience that would fulfill our wishes. Our goal was to not only see Neuschwanstein, but also the local, surrounding communities, traditions, and food. Stefan really delivered! His personal knowledge of the area was incredible. We were able to see Oberammergau, the location of the beautiful Passion Play, as well as the stunning frescos in the village. Stefan also took us to the majestic Ettal Monastery, as well as Wieskirche, the Pilgrimage Church of Wies, all while viewing the gorgeous Alps in the distance. As if this weren't enough to fulfill our day, we headed to Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwangau Castle, and the surrounding village. It was all so amazing, that our family will never forget the experience! Stefan shared his beautiful home country, while allowing us to select what we would like to experience the most! I wanted to have a picnic this day, near the castle, as a memory we would have forever. Ultimately, Stefan made it happen! We had a wonderful bottle of wine, glasses for all, and Stefan produced local delicacies that we had never had. It was such an amazing closure to a beautiful adventure in Bavaria. As we headed back to our hotel in Munich, Stefan filled the car with polkas, singing, and great, lasting cheer that has sustained us through these trying times of no travel with COVID. We miss our travels, and we will most definitely return to more tours and adventures with Stefan! Thank you for such wonderful memories!

8. With a local: Private Tour of Monaco Franze Filming Locations with Breakfast

Sepp, The Bavarian Guide

During this 5-hour private tour you will discover the highlights of the film locations and learn exciting background knowledge of the successful Bavarian series "Monaco Franze - Der ewige Stenz". A typical Bavarian breakfast or lunch is of course included in the tour price. The first episode, with which the popular series character "Monaco Franze" and so the actor Helmut Fischer became famous, was broadcasted on March 10th, 1983. Altogether, they filmed ten episodes of the cult series, in which our "Monaco", the cunning rascal with innocent doggy eyes, experienced various exciting stories as a charming rogue in Munich. True to the motto: "A bissl was geht immer immer" (something's always going on), we will visit the most important locations of this successful local series, with which Helmut Fischer became immortal as detective "Franz Münchinger" alias "Monaco Franze". To top the whole tour off, we will visit the world-famous Helmut Fischer bronze statue.
