Bavaria Hotels | Places to Stay in Bavaria

Known for its beer, sausages, Oktoberfest and lederhosen, Bavaria is Germany’s largest federal state and one of its most popular tourist destinations. It's also one of the most independent-minded regions. Home to cities like Munich (the capital) and Nuremberg, Bavaria is also cherished for its hilly countryside, where such gorgeous sites as Hohenschwangau Castle, Neuschwanstein Castle (the model for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland) and Linderhof and HerrenChiemsee Palaces can be found.

Booked this hotel due to its high-ranking here on TA — how wrong we were. First off the bat, there’s simply too many brothels, mini-casinos, and a handful of beggars around the area. Most of the restaurants nearby were tourist traps (my consideration) and it’s almost always busy on the streets. Room; there’s no way you could reach out to the receptionist coz there isn’t a phone. There’s a “smart tablet” provided but it could only connect you to a Bot and you go figure. We booked a ‘superior room’ that supposedly has a king bed but it’s not I assure you. Bathroom is too small and, hazardous would be a kind word I’m using here. It’s as though they’re trying to inflict some serious injury to you during and after shower. Just. Please. Look elsewhere.

Platzl Hotel

You place great importance on quality and want to be right in the middle of Munich's city life? Then Platzl Hotel Munich and its culinary offerings are the address for you. This traditional Superior Hotel and its two popular restaurants - the Pfistermuhle and Wirtshaus Ayingers - are located in the heart of Munich's old city, right beside the famous Hofbrauhaus. And just a short walk from the Marienplatz, the Bavarian State Opera, Maximilianstrasse and Viktualienmarkt. The Inselkammer family and its team combine Bavarian hospitality and traditional style elements with a modern lifestyle and state-of-the-art technology. It begins with a warm welcome in the foyer, continues through the 167 guest rooms and only ends when you leave Munich through the city's historic quarter. This combination of tradition and modernity also creates the ideal setting for private celebrations such as birthdays or weddings, but also conferences and seminars. Your visit should also include a taste of the culinary offerings at our two restaurants - because gastronomy has a long tradition at the Platzl. As early as the beginning of the last century, the Platzl stage was graced not just by cabaret giants such as Karl Valentin. Good Bavarian food also made repeat appearances, being served to guests before and after the performances. Today, the Pfistermuhle is synonymous with sophisticated Bavarian cuisine - at Munich's only preserved city mill. Since the year 2000, people from Munich and elsewhere have enjoyed the hearty regional dishes at Wirtshaus Ayingers, which is next door, while the charming stores and eateries in the "Platzlgassen" add to the lively atmosphere in the Platzl. Our outside bar the Platzl Karree presents a unique bar concept in Munich's old town. Because of the stylish and yet down-to-earth design the fine balancing act between tradition and modernity with the Platzl Karree is perfectly realized. The dominating colors anthracite with burgundy and the dark parquet flooring create a bar to relax and enjoy. In the new Josefa Bar & Kaffee we serve locally produced unique spirits, cool beverages with herbs freshly from the Viktualien market and own cocktail creations.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in for the price. There was no air conditioning, even though they said there was. It was 30C in my room and I was sick and couldn’t get comfortable because of the heat…..and it was very mild and cool outside, so second night I opened the window despite the noise.

Hotel Torbraeu

Welcome to Munich's oldest hotel! The 4-star Hotel Torbräu welcomed its first guests in 1490, a fact which can be traced in official documents from the time. Today our guests can expect a modern, family-run establishment that offers an excellent setting: situated directly by the historic Isartor, right by the entrance to the Old Town and just a short walk away from Marienplatz.

We enjoyed our 3 days in Munich eating, shopping and sight-seeing. The city is very clean, and everyone was friendly. Hotel Torbraeu was central to everything we wanted to do. There was a subway stop across the street which made travel to and from the airport very easy. The staff was fabulous, and our room was lovely.

The most disappointing Sofitel experience ever

Reviewed By Next81

I am an absolute devotee to Sofitel, hence a high ALL status with Accor, however this has been the most disappointing stay I have ever had. The location is good and the room are impeccable however the service is much to be desired. If you want to dine in, too bad, the restaurant is closed and the bar only a handful of tables that book out most nights. The reception never answer the phones, the turn down service, only provided on random days. We asked about this and were told this is only provided for suite guests which was so confusing, we had it the 3 nights previous and have had them in non-suite rooms in other Sofitel’s for the last 10 years. Is the level of Sofitel service hotel & night dependant now? Due to the lack of consistency (which is the point of chain hotels) I doubt I will stay here again

25hours Hotel The Royal Bavarian

The 25hours Hotel The Royal Bavarian flirts with the spirit of a golden era grand hotel, while playing with its location in the former Imperial Post and Telegraph Office on the forecourt of Central Station.

Unconventional, indeed. Great receptionist, who helped me to organize a reservation at a roof terrasse in Munich.

Inspirational deco. On the day I was there, quite pricy (twice the price than normal due to the "Abwassermesse" - who would have thought that that the sewage guys take over town). What. would be really helpful: pre-reserved parking in the Elisenhof for guests who come by car.

Good hotel for airport layover

A beautiful hotel part of the terminal complex. Easy to find. Fast check In. Very elegant yet trendy. I never got to enjoy the pool and spa because my flight was late. Bath and bed were excellent. I was disappointed that for $300 plus a night, I didn't get the breakfast I was expecting. So I can't speak to the food, the restaurant or the bar other than to note the high prices. Although it's a superb hotel, I did not get any real value for what I paid. Basically 12 hours to shower and sleep between flights. I would have stayed at the Munich Airport Moxy, a Marriott property for a quarter of the price, but there is no shuttle to get there at night.I paid a premium to get to my hotel to sleep within 5 minutes of exiting the airport into my room. And it was probably worth it.
