At Monte Alto we believe that feeding the soul is the most important thing. We do this by creating the best cakes in Huehuetenango, breakfasts for all tastes and a variety of sandwiches and pizzas for any occasion.
Had breakfast, a couple of eggs and mushrooms on top of a couple of cups made of ham. Accompanied by bread, oatmeal, a glass of papaya juice, black fried beans and a couple of nachos. All this for a very reasonable price, and I'm glad to say the food was quite good. I was thirsty and ordered a separate drink, which was good, but for the price I would have expected a bit more of it. My experience is marred however because we were sitting close to the kitchen and it was uncomfortably hot. Overall a good experience, good food, good prices and a somewhat slow service, but accommodating.
Beautiful restaurant. On the pricey side for sure, but so tasty. We got the paradilla for 2 and inhaled every bite of it! Good drinks, lively band at night. Worth a visit for a nicer lunch or dinner

The Pupusas here wear amazing. I would have came here more if I knew about it. I ordered 4 pupusas thinking they were small. They were actually super big. I could barely eat 2. If you like garlic they have that as an option.

Love everything about this place - from the ambiance to the food and the free wifi :) Breakfast, lunch, or drinks, whatever one of these you are craving, Panquwaffles is the place to go. Want to indulge in decadently topped waffles? How bout a healthy burger? Looking for lighter fare? Go for the natural green juice. Want a little more fun? Check out the rooibos red drink that is a version of sangria---mmmmm. Only problem with this place? There are so many good options that you will find yourself waffling over which one you want to try first!

Went with a group of thirteen friends and ordered fajitas for everyone. They were wonderful. Served somewhat family style. (See my photo.) They were served on an extra large cutting board with a variety of meats, cheeses, guacamole, and of course, cebollines (green onions). The staff was great and the restaurant was very cleaned with a great look. They may be a little slow, but worth the wait.

Went here to refuel after a reasonably challenging climbing day on volcán Santa MarÃa. Great food here! They have great juices to try and their portions are plenty filling to this gringo:-). Their pepÃan is the best! The service is attentive. Had to laugh when getting ready to use the restroom. Make sure you notice the low bridge on the step up or you will feel that low bridge! I tried to move that bridge and let's just say I lost:-). When you go inside that room, you'll see the light hanging by the electrical wires. That don't work here in the U.S. That's the the life though in all the third world countries I've visited .

local, organic and delicious. Make sure to try some of the local Kombucha. A small menu, but that means they are making things fresh based on what produce they have on hand. To go food available. Large salads. nom nom nom. go here!
