Absolute paradise surrounded by beauty and nature and friendly smiles

Reviewed By Ourshak

It’s been a few weeks since returning from our week at Savasi to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We have been to Fiji a few times and stayed at many islands but Savasi by far beat them all. We were lucky with the weather (not sure what it would have been like if it rained constantly). We loved everything about it, the calmness and tranquility to truly connect to nature and each other and unwind from the chaos of everyday life. We loved the activities, going on daily hikes and a variety of things like tubing, snorkeling, scuba diving, markets, kayaking and more. The food was nice (not amazing) but they certainly catered to our needs which I couldn’t have asked for anything else. Special mention and thanks to Eddie and Osea (apologies for incorrect spelling) who took us on incredible hikes and adventures. It truly was one of the best weeks of our life and we hope to return next year with the kids. Well worth the money and effort to get there!!

Great location, helpful staff

Reviewed By helenmcd

We really enjoyed our 4 nights at Daku. The staff were great, they organised for us to go snorkeling from the nearby Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort, arranged for taxis for us go into town and a tour of the nearby chocolate farm. We only had to ask and they did what ever they could. There was a bit of confusion about our pick-up time from te airport - Fiji Airways kept changing our flight times - but a quick call to the resort and they were there. The meals were great at Dakyu and it was only a short taxi ride to the good variety of eating/drinking places in town. Our villa was good, with a private pool and a kitchen with two separate rooms/ensuites- we were a group of 3 adults and the villa worked well. There was no wifi in the rooms but there was good connection in the dining/reception area. The resort is not 5-star but instead it is comfortable, friendly, convenient with great staff, lovely hosts and excellent service. A great base for exploring Savusavu.

SigaSiga Sands Resort

Popularly known as the best beach in Savusavu! Sigasiga Sands Resort is not your typical "resort". We have most the amenities of the larger resorts. Yet, it is much more peaceful, and private here. The pristine location and convenience to town (15 min drive) exceed most guest expectations. Bus/taxi services easy and affordable. Swimming lagoon 5-10 minute walk down the white sand beach from these beachfront cottages. World class snorkeling a 15-20 min walk out at low tide or snorkel out at high tide through 1m/3' of water. The 116 acre property includes nature trails through virgin forest and creeks. The 17 acre beachfront setting of old coconut plantation and colorfully landscaped grounds around lily ponds . Delicious Indo-Fijian Cuisine room service. Sporting activities available at nearby resorts. 2 Kayaks and snorkel gears available on site. Panoramic views are spectacular. Resident staff very friendly. Definitely worth a return trip. Families love it here and romance couples don't even notice them because of the wide open spaces and 3 lounge areas to choose from on the expansive white sand beach that remains even at high tide.

Will definitely be back! This place is one of the best I have stayed in Fiji

Reviewed By AussieTraveler75

This is one of the best places I have stayed in Fiji, and I have been to Fiji many times for work and vacation. I had moderate expectations on arriving (I was on a work trip to Savusavu), and I had originally only planned to stay for a few nights during a business trip. I ended up booking through the weekend as well, given Sigasiga has some of the best snorkeling, from a gorgeous cottage, on one of the most beautiful beaches in Fiji. What more can I say? If you have your own snorkel gear, and a reasonable amount of experience in the water, this place is perfect. You can walk to the reef on the low tide (and could probably swim on a high tide, though would be a long swim!) Because the reef has an inner and outer portion, with a lagoon between, the snorkeling was relatively protected, even though the weather wasn’t perfect during the time I was there (weather is rarely good in December). In fact, that is one of the reasons why this place is so great. I have stayed at expensive resorts on Kadavu or Taveuni that had nice housereefs, but that were much more exposed in rough weather. I was able to enjoy this reef even in rainy, windy conditions, and it was exceptionally good! Even children (ages 7+) could easily snorkel this reef, though would need to have adventurous parents as it is a long walk over uneven coral and a deep lagoon (but great for pelagics and reef sharks as a result). I did go on a daytrip to Namena for a bit of variety, but the reef here is just as good - with no cost or long boat trip required. I stayed in the Seahorse cabin, which is the nicest and newest, but has only one bed (best for a single or couple). The other cabins, which are part of the original plantation, are older and set back from the ocean, but are perfect for families with loft space and second bedrooms. It isn’t a luxury resort (self-catering) and you will get the usual ants and cockroaches that come with life in the tropics. The power and internet also worked only sporadically (life in Fiji) and the backup generator was out of commission so I had no power for several of the days I was there, and never managed to get good internet in my cabin. But who cares? The place was great for independent minded traevellers, the caretakers are lovely and will make amazing Indian food for a reasonable price if you don’t feel like cooking. So if you aren’t looking for a full-service resort, and like a bit of seclusion and privacy, this place has it all… I will be back (don't like resorts and this was so much better!)

This place is special

Reviewed By Markylush

We have just returned from 6 nights at this idyllic place, and wish we could have stayed longer. Very remote lush location, we had the place to ourselves. After some initial confusion over food arrangements we realised that for a reasonable daily fee we were provided our own private chef, Oscar! Visiting local markets, villages and road side stalls for ingredients with Oscar was a treat in itself with the end result magnificent meals provided each day. Even a birthday cake for our son. The fishing is extraordinary and the staff, Solo, Oscar, Li Li and Simon (the best boat captain) were extremely welcoming and accomodating to all of our needs. Some great excursions, especially to the waterfall were excellent. Local diving and snorkelling in Natewa Bay was stunning.

New downtown accommodation in Savusavu

Seven of us looking for overnight accommodation in Savusavu so booked two rooms here. Well located on the main Street, just through town - handy to restaurants (easy walk) across road from harbour. No elevator (and no handrail on stairs). Spacious rooms - some have sea views. Good beds - we all slept well. Able to sit out on front balcony and enjoy harbour and sunset. Don’t accept credit cards. Yes we would stay here again.

Labasa Waterfront Hotel

Great and ideal for budget travellers too

Reviewed By 952jim

We stayed there for three nights and the hospitality was good as well the services provided, the rooms were good too with really great views in the morning over looking the Labasa river with fishing boats going across too from the vilages along the river sides to town. The hotel is about three to four Fiji dollars ride from town past the police post to the hotel, it is really safe in terms of security and safety of an individual because the police main station is just a few meters away from the hotel. The hotel had charges of $90 FJD a night with breakfast included and also that town is just a few minutes walk away too. The restaurants are available near by too with very reasonable costs.
