Originally built as a farmhouse circa 1490, this Grade II Listed building was extended during 1550, 1650 and latterly 1720, as shown below. The sympathetic renovation of 2008 uncovered a wealth of period features such as vaulted ceilings, oak beams and ce

You cannot book a table if you have a large party. We were a party of 10 and my husband and I arrived before the family. upon arrival we asked if they could get us a table for 11, someone didn’t turn up. We were told we had to wait until every member of our party arrived before they would seat us and they could not sit us all at one table. My inclination was to leave at that point but the family were all travelling separately from various locations and was too awkward to rearrange. We were finally offered a table for 6 and circular table set for 4 beside it. I guess had our missing guest turned up they would have squashed her onto that table. The lady who took our convoluted order was lovely and very professional unlike her colleague. The food was great. We had a variety of foods from the menu and carvery and everyone enjoyed their meal. Just a shame we were not sat together and the welcome was so unfriendly.Good Morning,Unfortunately when sitting large tables we insist that the party are here before we sit you as there can be a long delay on all of the party arriving. As we have a small restaurant we can only sit two large parties on the same table. We did inform you that it would be on two tables and did show you where you would be sitting as the other tables were taken. You agreed to the seating arrangement and we did get you seated together. Regards

I truly thought a place with an average of 4 stars would be better. Well after seeing a duty manager putting two plates of food on the floor twice to open a door I can assure you I won’t be eating there and on top of this I will highly advise people not to drink the Guinness extra cold as it had so much yeast coming out the line and in the bottom of my friends glass that I think you can bake bread from it! The outside area in the back has clearly not been cleaned from the night before sure as hell I will not be returning.Hi Ncronje, we can assure you that we do not find this type of behavior acceptable, and we would like to address the situation you have described.

Elm tree is a unique pub full of warmth and character. I spent the entire day with a glass of wine overlooking the beautiful British country side. Ryan, Alex and Chelsea were all welcoming and knowledgable. I even stayed for dinner and had a decent pub grub. Can’t fault this place. Five stars all the way and highly recommended:)

We live local to the Queens College Arms and it has had its up and downs over the years. I think it is now on the up. Service is always excellent and a couple of really friendly waitresses. Yesterday we have a Sharing platter from the new menu and it was absolutely lovely. Well presented, fresh and tasty. Can’t wait to have it again! Thank you.

We tried this as we had heard it was quite good. However expensive and distinctly average all round. Trying to upsell from the off is never a good start. Pushing olives bottles of water etc from the start isn't what we expected. We ordered 2 rounds of drinks during the night both times one item was missing. Starters delivered except for one that we had to wait 5 mins for. Starters a mixed bag Camembert and Scotch egg good. White bait over cooked, prawns ok ish. Main course all came out ok. Lamb , Halloumim Burger ok. Fillet Steak very average to poor no taste and one had to be sent back as should have been rare wasn't even warm. Beef Wellington at £27.5 was abysmal. Steak inside was over cooked, tasteless and and was more like an overcooked roasting joint. Pastry soggy and didn't taste any other filling. Service wasn't very good but one lady seemed to be covering whole place. There are alot better places around.

Average... which isn’t good enough tbh...My wife had the pie... she didn’t finish it... shortcrust pastry case with a mushroom-heavy, quite dry pie and a puff pastry lid... didn’t do it for her... I had steak - which was nice... good sauce. The lovely big flat mushroom was such a disappointment... deep fried and then grilled apparently- but it was dripping with oil. Really gross. I asked for replacement thinking it must be an error... which they provided without question - but turned up exactly the same. Service was ok... average... which isn’t good enough in my view. The place was dead and had 3 staff waiting on just two tables - it wasn’t attentive enough. Would have had a burger, but I really didn’t get the proposition... you pay £11 for your burger and then top it up with “whatever you want”... which actually costs you £1 per item! But there’s no list of items... random. Pizzas - again, random options for your own toppings... 50p for a splash of Tobasco...?!! Don’t take the piss! Badger Best Bitter was a really good pint. It’s average. But only because there are some good bits and some bad bits that average out... I’ll only remember the bad bits though as the good bits aren’t special. Shame - it’s not really worth the effort of having to drive there.

The Wellington Arms

Eating at this homely yet sophisticated pub (with a menu so local that the eggs, chicken, honey and ham are bred and made on the premises) feels like being in the dining room of a dear friend. Muddy wellington boots welcome. (The Times, May 1st 2010)Descr

This charming gastro pub has extremely high standards of both food quality and service. Took 10 close friends to celebrate my partners birthday. A group with diverse tastes, allergies and maturity were all catered for with the utmost courtesy. Now onto the food. The Wellington serves local produce and has a menu that oozes quality. If you are a real foodie you will not be dissapointed.
