Famous Hitachi Beef and Angler Fish lived up to their names in this restaurant. Food was delicious but none of the staff spoke any English. We asked for separate bills but turned out they gave us two beer... From the menu we got to know of some places of interest near Mito! I would recommend that's restaurant but go with some knowledge of Japanese language.

There are many nice restaurants serving Eel cuisine in Mito !! One of the best is this very traditional restaurant, Nakagawaro, where you eat their delicious Eels in very nice private Tatami rooms.

Reasonably priced, very good sushi and sashimi but the best of all are small pieces of eel on rice. I wish it was open later that 9pm during week, so tasty. Make sure to get reservation if you donât want to be seated in the smoking section though.

A Japanese friend me introduced to this excellent small restaurant in Mito. No English spoken nor written, you have to make your own way with gestures :). Owners are great though. Their specialty is the big hokkaido crab -- marvellous, just cooked in front of you! A must-go when in Mito. Look for the crab insegna!
