Phuong Tu Motel

Arrived here after a bad experience at Villa Sapphire

Reviewed By David C

Lovely family run motel 100 meters from the beach at Ho Tram. Lots of little family touches, from the orchids planted with care along the balcony to the pet minah birds, roosters as an alarm clock, and very friendly service. We came here after a bad experience at another hotel, and the welcome and hospitality could not have been any better! Rooms are basic amenities, but good wifi and very clean. Would be delighted to stay here again and highly recommend!

Sapphire Motel

Refused to give passport back, had to threaten to phone police!

Reviewed By PhilNeville

Booked and paid for in advance online using Expedia.com for a week. Taxi drove round and round in circles trying to find the hotel. It is off the main road, down a dark dirt track, just passed a construction site. Google maps puts the location as arrived, but it was just wasteland? No street lighting whatsoever. We booked a garden room, which has no garden at all for a view, just a parking lot and construction site for a view! The pool was a deathtrap, bricks, electric wires and filthy pool area. They said a storm had caused problems, apparently it rains bricks and garbage there? We were in shock as it looked nothing like what was advertised. We said we wanted to check out as soon as possible, they refused to refund for the extra 6 days! Then they refused to give back our passports, which were left in a unsecured draw! Had to threaten to phone the police to get them back! Avoid this place at all cost!!! it has 2 listings on TripAdvisor, which is odd?

Good option for low budget travelers. We booked this motel for 2 nights since there were no available rooms near the beach due to festive holiday, this motel is about 7km from the Ho Coc beach and 8km from Ho Tram, you have to ride through a national park to reach those beaches. The owner is super hospitable and helpful, she helped us to rent bikes and showed us where to eat and the way to places we wanted to go. Selections for food and drinks in this motel is not so many but good and cheap, rooms are clean with window and public balcony, basic amenities in room. The owner doesn't speak English so Google Translate helps a lot for non Vietnamese. If you want to have meals here, ask the owner 1 day before, she will prepare and cook for you. Breakfast/snacks are bread with omelette or noodles with egg and veggie, served all day with drinks like black/white coffee, passion fruit juice, orange juice, soft drinks. The dog is cute, he's friendly with all customers. If you want to go back to Saigon by bus, also ask the owner to book a local bus for you. The motel is quite far from the nearest town (8km - about 20 mins by bike) P/S I'm a Viet so had no language problem with the owner's family.
