Upside Down House

Reviewed By 43walters43 - Ligonier, United States

The upside down house is an interesting tourist attraction in the Szymbark Park, Szymbark, Poland. But the rest of the extensive park is historical, educational, and entertaining, centered around the life, culture, and people of the Kashubian region of Poland. This seemingly little known park is extensive and well worth a visit. Besides the upside down house, you will see several historical buildings, a recreated bunker used by the resistance during the occupation, a full size three car train with a real (non-functioning) Soviet steam engine, a building housing the longest board in the world (used as a table), a Kashubian trapper farm from emigrants in Canada, a church, and a well stocked gift shop. Also on site is a hotel and a micro-brewery/restaurant. This park was an excellent find off the beaten path. It doesn't seem to be written up but we loved it. There were several surprising and informative exhibits. I was specially impressed with the Soviet train with an actual steam engine and coal car. I like trains but I'm not knowledgable of Soviet engines but I believe it to be an L series 2-10-0 model. It's wheels and trim were red with a red star on the front and sides. Huge!!
