Very nice hotel Seaside Hotel Kadakaigetsu

Very nice hotel. We booked a room with both Western and Japanese influences. There's a free onsen with an amazing view on the sea and tomogashima islands. I'll never forget the sunset that I watched from the outside bath (no pictures allowed obviously, respect the naked people). The picture in this post was taken from our balcony. I did not try the food of the hotel but it is possible to eat in, just make a reservation beforehand. Very nice massage of 30min for 3500yen, the woman came to our room.

So friendly

My 2nd night in Japan and I struck it lucky with this little family run Ryokan. The owner was super friendly and couldn't help me enough. Since I wanted to hike in the mountains, she printed a map for me and made sure I had enough water since it was very hot. She also printed how to use a Japanese hot spring bath. The dinner was interesting and yummy and again she explained what things were and how to eat them. The next morning they even drove me to the ferry to go to Tokushima. Super nice.

Slightly out of the way, but very peaceful

This accommodation felt very traditional; when we were there, the guests were mostly Japanese and the staff only spoke Japanese. That being said, I would recommend this accommodation if you have a car. As this accommodation is located on a hilltop, you will wake up to a beautiful sight of the sea and the port. The public bath in this accommodation is also beautiful, with both an indoor and outdoor bath, and the outdoor bath overlooks the sea and the port as well. The outdoor bath was very unique as well. Though this place is about 20 - 25 minutes away from the town, if you have a car, it is not that far away and there are many convenience stores and restaurants / fast food outlets which open lat (to satisfy those late night cravings and needs). The accommodation makes one feel relaxed, in a very traditional setting, and it is also value for money.

Hiinanoyu

If you’re looking for a romantic onsen ryokan in Wakayama, look no further than Hiinanoyu. Nearby landmarks such as Second Battery Ruins (1.3 mi) and Site of Miyama Batttery (1.5 mi) make Hiinanoyu a great place to stay when visiting Wakayama. As your “home away from home,” the onsen ryokan rooms offer a flat screen TV, air conditioning, and a refrigerator. Guests have access to baggage storage, a coffee shop, and shops while staying at Hiinanoyu. In addition, Hiinanoyu offers an on-site restaurant, which will help make your Wakayama trip additionally gratifying. And, as an added convenience, there is free parking available to guests. When you're feeling hungry, you can check out Manko Shoten (0.0 mi), Kamome Sushi (0.2 mi), or Kirara (1.0 mi), which are all within walking distance of Hiinanoyu. Should time allow, Awashima Shrine, Kada Kasuga Shrine, and Ennogyojado are some popular attractions that are within walking distance. The staff at Hiinanoyu looks forward to serving you during your upcoming visit.

Making a day trip can be a reasonable choice.

If you live or sty around Osaka and want to soak yourself in a hot spring, visiting Kata for a day trip can be more reasonable than visiting, say, Arima. If you drive, it takes only half and an hour. You can go to Kata by Nankai Line, too.
