Top 7 Hostels hotel in Salzburg, Austria

April 29, 2023 Jasper Kershner

It’s been 200 years or so since he lived here, but Mozart is still very much Salzburg’s favorite son. Visit the composer’s residence and birthplace, then explore the Altstadt (Old City), taking in the baroque architecture. If your musical tastes run more "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens" than "Requiem in D Minor," catch one of the many Sound of Music tours and follow in the footsteps of the Von Trapps.

a&o Salzburg Central Station

A striking combination of old and new, all in one building: in this design a&o, situated only 500 metresfrom the central station, sleep cosily in a former bread factory, a listed building that has been converted into a modern, stylish accommodation with 119 single, double, and family rooms, as well as multi-bed dorms. There’s a kids’ corner for our younger guests, and the grownups can help themselves to the well-stocked snack bar. Superb Stay ❣️❣️

Pros: Clean, quite comfortable stay, budget hotel, near the Salzburg central train station, clean toilet & bathroom. Cons: Water pressure from the shower is a bit weak for me. ☺️All in all it was a nice hotel to stay in. Will definitely come back.

Very good cost x benefit

Travelling to Salzburg with my family (4 people in total) and we were checking airBNB options, however this hotel caught our attention because the value was very close to an AirBNB flat in the area. Good thing that we went to the hotel instead, as it is really a very good option, close to the old city center (<10m walking distance), very clean and friendly staff. We decided to not include breakfast, however that was a mistake on my part, because it is very convenient and there are plenty of options to eat, so the value (around 100 Euros for our four day stay) is not that bad. Really recommend the hotel and certainly will use the JUFA chain of hotels more times.

Nice stay, good location

Reviewed By Salla S

We booked twin bed private room for two nights in Salzburg with shared bathroom and wc. It was nice surprise that our room had private shower, wc was on the corridor. All was as expected. Location is halfway between railway station and old town, and it is possible to walk everywhere. Breakfast was good for its price, 3 €. It included good amount of bread and stuff with it, coffee and juice. On other day, there were also cereals. People was very nice too. And they really play sound of music daily :D

Bad management. Unfortunate dishonesty. Panoramic view.

Reviewed By Abnrnaami

I had booked the double room (there is only one) for my partner and myself, so you can imagine my surprise when we arrived and were informed by the waiter (there is no receptionist or person responsible for the rooms) that the reservation had been cancelled. The reservations manager (a guy called Peter, who is maybe also the owner) had mistakenly cancelled it following a call I had made to cancel breakfast. I had even told him over the phone that I will be sending him a written confirmation so as to ensure everything was crystal clear. He had then promptly responded with 3 words (That is ok). The waiter proceeded to call Peter and he then came back telling us it was fine. We paid, followed the waiter upstairs to our room, which we saw was fitted with a bunk-bed and not a double bed. This is where we really felt played, as the waiter had never told us before we paid that the double room was occupied, and even when faced with it was coming up with petty excuses (like: 'yeah, but the double room is more expensive you know?'). That dishonesty did not sit well with either of us. If we wanted to we could have really started a discussion, but we did not want our short romantic stay in Salzburg to be clouded by this so we just sighed and carried on with our lives. It's all pretty sad, as the view up there is beautiful and the food was nice. Stadtalm Naturfreundehaus: Get your grip together management-wise. This is not the first review complaining about this.

Nice and well-kept

Reviewed By perdindirindylan

We stayed at Eduard-Heinrich-Haus for 3 nights with a group of 50 young boys and girls. We were all well accomodated, rooms were spacious and clean, the only negative was the very small bathrooms. Meals were tasty and well prepared, also for celiacs and lactose intolerants. Unfortunately this hotel is a bit far from the center of the city, which is however easily attainable with public transport.

They sold a room on booking.com that did not match the reservation or the picture linked to the reservation on booking.com. The receptionist kept on saying "But you booked a room in a dorm". Sorry, but that is not an excuse for poor customer service, unflexibility and being rude. Had to find another place to stay late at night. Of course they took the money from my account with a huge smile,
