Trinity Square

Reviewed By Erzs_bet_S274887 - Budapest, Hungary

One of the most memorable memorials of tourists is the square with a four-leaf clover, the west side of which offers a beautiful view of the Sugovica River and the island.
You can see a late Baroque-style monument from the XVIII. century, the statue of the Trinity in the middle. In the historic buildings of the square there are restaurants, a hotel, shops and a tourist information office.

Statue of Andras Jelky

Reviewed By ELear - Ancona, Italy

The statue commemorates the amazing life and adventures of an 18th century tailor's apprentice from Baja who travelled the world. Nijmegen, Paris, Leipzig, the Dutch East Indies, Lisbon, Surinam, Canton, Ceylon... conscripted (twice - the first time he escaped), imprisoned, transported, shipwrecked, captured by pirates... Here we see him striding the globe, stick in hand and hat on head, an inspiration.

St Nicolas Serbian Orthodox Church

Deeply refreshing. Outside, soaring baroque in custard and plum, inside like a glimpse of heaven, another world, beyond time and earthly decay, somewhere to sit in silence for a few minutes.

Turr Istvan Muzeum

Reviewed By ELear - Ancona, Italy

The museum houses a vast, kaleidoscopic variety of material, including history from prehistoric times to the second world war and natural history (monstrous stuffed fish), but concentrates in particular on the various peoples that live or lived on the banks of the river in this area: their houses, their boats, the tools they used, their fish-traps, shelters, furniture and clocks, their hats, their coloured pottery, their fish-spears... Absolutely fascinating. Exceptionally friendly, welcoming staff, who obviously love the museum and want visitors to enjoy it too.
