I booked the "Drogerie" for 15 customers from abroad. We had a wonderful evening, great atmosphere and it was like i would host in my own living room.
Homelike, warm atmosphere, we were welcomed very warm and professional.
The food is high standard, special menue , dont come if you would like a standard burger and fremch fries.
This place is we you take your special friends to, or as i did my customers to enyoy a special evening.
Next year to same occasion i will be definitely planning another evening.

Living in Leipzig, the "Substanz" is my No. 1 place to enjoy a great evening - during the summer I am there 2 to 3 times a week.. Although it might look a little dubious from the outside, this location has the most beautiful, alomst Indonesian-looking Biergarten in town which is open from April to September. During the winter months, it transforms into a mellow pub (in which smoking is allowed).
At the bar, the Substanz offers a huge variety of drinks - from German beers to Whiskey, from Fritz Cola to Cuba Libre. And if your stomach asks for a treat as well, they will make you one of their great burgers with organic meat and homemade potato wedges! And you will get everything for a reasonable price.
Sometimes, invited bands give Concerts and you have to pay a small entrance fee. But in 95% of the times, entrance is absolutely free.
My advice: The Biergarten opens at 6pm and I recommend to come early. During the nice summer nights, the place is packed with people! The good thing is, because the Subtanz is quite spacious and there are a lot of plants, you don´t really notice how much is going on.
So if you are looking for a great place to enjoy the real Leipzig, drink German beer and chat with nice people, that´s where you should go!

I ate here with friends during a weekend trip. The station has been converted beautifully. Lovely surroundings for a meal. The menu is good with a broad selection. All the choices we had were great. Generous portions and really tasty. There is also a great selection of beers.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
I would recommend eating here without hesitation.

Very well located, especially if arriving by train, as it's on the main drag once the wide and very busy Willy Brandt Platz has been traversed. It's very popular (always a good sign) with a wide range of bagels and drinks, including speciality teas and coffees, and prices are reasonable. Despite being a chain the staff are really friendly and the small breakfast on offer was excellent, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice, generous fillings and a range of teas. Recommended

It is a Raucherbar. Expect a bit of cigarette smoke. Apart from that it is in a great location, within the passage/arcade opposite the Rathaus and directly above the famous 'Goethe/Faust' keller restaurant. That was too busy for us and also did not serve drinks only. This place did and continued the theme of the books with an interesting display every 15 mins or so.
Good range of beers and cocktails. Didn't eat but menu looked good.

Went for a dinner to try local cuisine with a beer. the place is nice, the food was good. Important tip - it was busy even at relatively early hour (6 pm) - recommend to book a place.

Two couples enjoyed the prix fixe menu with wine pairings. The food was delicious-well flavored with appropriate portions for the many courses. The wine pours were generous and of high quality. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We liked that the room was quiet enough to talk, and that we were not rushed. We arrived shortly after 7 PM and were shutting the place down after 10:30 PM--but this was because we were having fun, not slow service. One of our party had a nut allergy, which was well accommodated.

This restaurant has outstanding service, and the food is very good, however, there is nothing special about the food itself. Just standard mexican/south american food which one could get in any good mexican restaurant. I guess it is rated outstanding as it is the only such restaurant in Leipzig? Also, it is a bit expensive, considering the fact that any good mexican burrito can be obtained for about 10 Euro and here it is over 15 Euro and does not include any of the sauces! The service is, however, outstanding.

A nice Vietnamese restaurant, with good quality food and a really nice service, in the best viet tradition. Arriving late in Leipzig we were greeted though it was missing just over half an hour at the closure time. The waitress, who came to pick up the order, advised us to reduce the number of dishes, because we had exaggerated. The food is very enjoyable, with no some of the ingredients that, in particular dishes, make the viet kitchen of difficult acceptances for Western tastes. We took a soy soup with rice spaghetti and meati, duck breast with vegetables and prawns with vegetables. With two large beers, 47 €. Highly recommended!

This place has an uncanny resemblance of Jamie Oliver's "Jamie's Italian" chain of the UK.
