The fish soup was pretty good and the palinka was even better. Service not so brilliant. Possibly I walked in just when the staff had been hoping to get a hard-earned afternoon rest. Good air-conditioning.

plenty of nice seafood and Hungarian meat meals on the menu. I have decided for a fresh and tasty Caesars salad and cordon bleu. Both homemade and with a good taste. Service was friendly and quick. I can fully recommend.

Terrible, absolutely terrible. We stopped in this small place to eat something for lunch during a recent trip. First of all, the place is dirty, disgusting and absolutely not taken care of. The staff is rude, they basically ignored us and after serving the "food" they simply went to sit outside in the Terrace to relax. The food is really, really bad. We ordered some meat with fries. First, we were asked to buy gyros instead of normal chicken because this way "they could simply warm it in the microwave". After refusing this really upsetting offer, we got our food (we waited 25 minutes and the place was completely empty). The plates looked terrible: the chicken was dry, burnt in some part and a small portion; the fries were brownish and when I tasted them I felt like vomiting because they tasted like burnt oil, since probably they were cooked in a 2 weeks old oil. So, if you have the bad idea to stop for a quick meal or even take away food from this place, please change your mind. It was one of the worst experiences in my life.

This is the restaurant in the newly modernised Hotel Wellness Duna in the centre of Baja. We chose to eat on the Terrace to enjoy the view, but there is a large indoor eating area. The menu has lots of Hungarian and middle European dishes and I enjoyed a hearty soup. The wine list is comprehensive.

I've been planning to visit this place for years now, sadly it's too far away from where I live or commute. I know the place from articles and videos. It was "advertised" as the place with the best halászlé (hungarian fishsoup) in Hungary. So our expectations where pretty high.
Let's start with the good part! The soup is really one of the bests we've ever ate, and definitely the only not "passzírozott" (dont know how to call it in english, smashed or something) fish soup we liked. It's just perfect, the paprika is pretty much dominating the taste, it is really fresh and authentic. You really have to try it one day, We'll definitely visit this place again just because of this food.
The location is also very nice, near Danube, the view is beautiful, also the restaurant itself. I have to repeat myself again here: authentic and warm.
I had the chance to talk with the chef as well, as he is cooking the fish soup on place what can be seen by the visitors as well so if someone is interested in this art he can learn as well. The chef was nice and very informative. I learnt that they are bringing the fresh fish every morning from Szeged, which I can totally believe.
We also ate some fried fish what was also really really good. Though it's a traditional hungarian food it's rare to find it...
And now move to the small issues what I mentioned in the title.
We tried to get a menu several times but failed, the waitress didn't tell they don't have one she just "evaded" to bring one somehow always. I don't know why.
First we ordered a lemonade, something you would expect is made from fresh lime and water with some sugar maybe some additives and some ice cubes. Instead we received something really sweet what was clearly made from strawberry syrup. Not something you like to drink on a hot day like that.
Another strange thing is that somehow we felt neglected. Don't get me wrong the waiters were usually there but we had the feeling that they were more concentrating on the returning guests.
And the last thing is that I noticed something on the bill what we didn't order. I noticed it after we left and of course didn't go back to complaint.
I take it as a mistake.
In summary the food is really good there (especially the fish soup), the place is beautiful and has a strong atmosphere, they just have to improve on the "subsidiary" things.
It's not a cheap place but it's clear that they have high costs as well.
