It is approximately 150 kilometres (93 mi) south of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 4 metres (13 ft) above sea level. Mirissa's beach and nightlife make it a popular tourist destination. It is also a fishing port and one of the island's main whale and dolphin watching locations.

This was the nearest to our accommodation and the very best. The garden is a beautiful place to enjoy great food, friendly staff and nice music. Once we found it we never bothered with anywhere else. The Sri Lankan curry is excellent. It's also much cheaper than most others and no service charge but we always tipped the 10% anyway as it was well deserved.

Arriving at the hotel was good, welcome drinks, thereâs a pool at the front and itâs right across from the beach perfect location! There was no water in our room and the phone wouldnât work. Itâs all stairs so there are no lifts for bags etc. food was average, when paying for water I was told different prices two times. Bathroom tended to flood after using the shower. Bed was comfortable but overall the hotel and itâs service would be considered to be very average. Great food, shisha, environment. Very friendly owner and staff, best night life in Weligamaâºï¸We kept coming back here every other night during our stay in Weligama and felt like at home. Itâs a brand new restaurant with a cosy interior.We love vegan food and this place has amazing options like falafels, hummus, interesting salad options. Generous portions to enjoy. We had a walk around mirissa Beach, and stop by this lovely place! Happy people, nice cocktails (must try arrack sour!) and food in a very good price. Service was helpful and attentive, we'll be back! Recommended!!
