Sunset Ccottages is a traditional guest house which built from bamboos, coconut wood, and grass for its roof, since 5 years ago. Its eco-friendly will let you enjoy your holiday and away of your busy time at home. At this place, you will be close to nature because the bungalows are located in a calm and quiet beach where you just hear the singing birds and wave’s sound.This bungalow are managed by the local friendly couple who are Hendrik and Erny. They understood well to serve with the best hospitality. This couple and all their staffs are very helpfull, just let them know if you need the information or something else about your trip.

Bring your own mosquito repellent and also recommended the mosquito spiral cause yes there is a lot of insects of all kinds. I got bitten by i dont know what kind of animal in the night in the bed under the mosquito net ( not bedbugs ) and still have those bites in my armpit. So if you are scared of crawlies- this is not your place. If he would cut down some trees and let moore sun in - the problem would be less. Very very nice and friendly owner family, helpful and good solid people. We slept with all doors and windows open every night so safe as well. The best is of course the food, the chef puts all his love and care into the wonderful dishes. Even the aestethics of the dishes is 5 star. Good job, keep up the wonderful job !

Quiet stay out of the center
Reviewed By isabellegruberWe stayed at Blue Ocean Cottages for one night before leaving Maumere. It's not far from the airport and was therefore conveniently located for us. The rooms were clean and the cottages nicely arranged around a small garden. We didn't explore the surrounding area much. The food was okay. The staff didn't speak much English but were helpful and with the help of some translations, communication worked fine.

Way overpriced
Reviewed By 11surfinglifeThese overpriced cottages may have seen better days. The one we stayed in did not match the photos of the place on the Internet. Our toilet did not have a toilet seat, the shower was drizzling weakly, and the small sink was broken (it leaked from beneath). In addition, there is no window screens or mosquito net over the beds, so mosquitoes can waft in at their leisure for their feast. I realize I may be harsh here, as the owner is nice when you personally meet him and the family may be struggling financially as another reviewer noted, but gouging is still gouging. We paid exactly the same price for other bungalows that had functional showers and a toilet on which we could actually sit. The breakfast is nothing to write home about: a little plate of fruits and a bunch of local cakes with coffee. So, yes, you are near the beach, but here again, it does not offset the inflated price.
