This small indonesian restaurant is decorated with 100s of tall wooden painted cats and a real indonesian canoe! Very nice and so is the sateh in the special sateh menu that I had. My friends were not as lucky as I was. They had the ârijsttafelâ, with various small indonesian dishes. It was not very special. The rendang was rather tasteless and had only a few pieces of meat. Most dishes were very sweet with little of the other tastes of which the indonesian cuisine is famous for. Dear MrtnVgt,Thanks for your review about our interior. Unfortunately our rijsttafel didn't meet your expectations. Despite that we still would like to invite you to visit our restaurant again.Thanks again,Kind Regards,Javaans Eetcafe

I have been to three Indonesian restaurants in Groningen and this one is by far the best. The "soto" genuinely tastes Indonesian. The owner speaks Dutch and Indonesian. No doubt she is Indonesian and she certainly knows how to cook Indonesian food. Recommended!
