Nice athmosfere, great food. Value for money. Friedly service. We visit here often. The menu has something for everyone. They have a menu all-inclusive: you can choose everything from the cart but at a fixed price. We love the fish and lamm dishes. The modern interieur makes it a great evening out.

The place offers menus of 4-7 courses with or without wine and the rest is a surprise , where in our case we gave them some restrictions of some of us do not eat. This they took into account, at times substituting A for B for the person concerned. The food was well prepared, elegantly arranged, tasty and, beware, small portion (excellent for people like me), with mostly well-chosen wines to go with each course if you choose the with wine option. At ~ 80 Euro for 5 courses with wine/person this is not cheap but not expensive either, esp. as it is a culinary experience (time flies; we were there for 3.5 hrs, without really noticing that time wnwnetet by!)

This meatless restaurant serves fish, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. There is also a variety of fondus. The interior decoration is subdued and conducive to pleasant dining. The waitress was very nice, though we noted that not all previous visitors agreed. Highly revommended.

I chose this restaurant for my b-day dinner and did not regret that. Stylish and at the same time casual and cosy this place offers a great food experience. There is no fixed menu there, but they create a selection of dishes which is changed weekly. Seasonal and local ingredients all freshly prepared for you - really amazing. Great service. I do not eat meat so I told that when we were making reservations, and there was no awkward moment, my husband got his meat dishes, I got fish) It is nice to inform, since the restaurant kinda decides your menu for you)))) To sum this all up - definitely recommend this place!

This restaurant (which has a bib gourmand) is adjacent to the NH hotel and acts as the official hotel-restaurant. The seating plan is simple, but effective, a relatively long but small corridor left and right couches with tables and small chairs. The wine ‘book’ was okish with nothing spectacular nor exciting, the usual French wines with a few new world options. We took the Fleurie 2015, a good and solid choice. The menu (the 3 course option) with tartar , duck and cheese, was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The quality of the service staff was uneven, some great and attentive, others lacking knowledge and flair. With a tad more effort (kitchen and staff) this place would be great.

We were two couples, who visited Houdt van Eten and we had great expectations after reading the restaurants reviews, and we were definitely not disappointed. We had a 5 course Dinner that blew us away, including a 5 course wine menu, an extra bottle of wine, and fantastic service from a young guy, and the price was only 60 Euro per person. An extra nice feature at this restaurant is, that they have an open kitchen, so you can follow the making of your Dinner....

We had a wonderful evening with family from Indonesia, Groningen, Oude Pekela, San Fransisco and Sydney and while the 'locals' knew the restaurant very well for the out-of-towners it was a lovely surprise. The food was delicious (doing very well with gluten and lactose intolerances) but what really set it apart was the friendly and attentive service. Can highly recommend it and will certainly go back when we get the chance.

What a lovely find in Groningen. Right by the water, the Harbour Cafe is larger than it looks. A perfectly small menu, out of Lobster and cod when we ordered at 8pm - a good sign that everything is fresh in daily! Our meal consisted of sharing a fish platter to start - beautifully fresh choice of smoked salmon, samphire salad, prawns, tuna with capers and fresh bread. My son opted for a rare steak, he said was perfectly cooked. My husband had turbot and and I had the amazing Bouilliabaise, jam packed with fish. The vegetables that accompanied all meals, were perfectly; fresh broad beans, fresh peas and samphire - did I mention how fresh it all was?Unfortunately we were too full for desserts but managed coffee instead.A lovely evening - visit soon if in Groningen. Thanks Jo! We work hard to get the best fresh ingredients every day. Your review makes it worth it. We're glad you appreciate it!
