Escaping the miserable restaurants of our hotel and a number of closed restaurants, we ended up being the only westerners in the western restaurant. The staff were friendly, but kept us waiting at the bar quite a while as they wrestled with the computer printer to get their English menu. In the end they asked if we could read Japanese. I can't, but my smartphone can!Although the set menu that everyone was having looked great, we followed their à la carte formula and chose 3 appetisers and 2 mains, which were all expected to be shared. Everything was very tasty and well cooked. There is a long-ish looking wine list, and translation identified the region of each wine and we went for a French one that turned out to be a good bottle for ¥2,800. As a Brit, that's actually good value for me in a restaurant. All in all it was tasty, we managed to communicate, share a few smiles with our neighbours and not spend too much.
