Vinci itself is a charming place and the museum is a real highlight. There are models that we have not seen elsewhere and all sorts of interesting information. We nearly gave this a miss but are very pleased we did not.

Just entering the music that welcomes you is great! there is always a great selection. The barman called Carlo is gentle, smiling, friendly and he prepares excellent cocktails, I suggest the one with ginger, aboslutely delicious! Every time we go, we have a great night!

The gallery has been operating for about 30 years in the production of artistic ceramics and as 700 years ago, only creates ceramics made and hand painted. This shop is a little jewel in the commercial landscape of Montelupo. The owner Salvatore Mirenda, creates objects with the ancient technique of the lathe, the activity that takes place over 35 years, after he inherited from his father Sebastian, a master potter. Salvatore continues the family tradition of working with clay, enriching it with new shapes and decorations. Our production is not limited to the reproduction of classical works, but adds that touch of creativity, originality and quality that distinguishes our work. The gallery offers the opportunity 'to order and buy directly from the factory or via email.

My wife is making ceramics, this is her hobby and her passion. Naturally, we visit ceramics manufacturers everywhere we travel. This includes Italy, of course, Tuscany in particular. But La Galleria in Montelupo is one of our strongest impressions to date.
They have a few lines so unusual and beautiful it is hard to leave the shop! They are the best in Montelupo for sure and maybe in the entire Tuscany. Their poppies line in particular is artistically stunning (I believe it has been developed by the son of the owner). Other lines are not less impressive. The owners are super-friendly and are ready to show and discuss everything, they are really proud of what they are doing.
A piece of advice. Allocate at least an hour if you plan to go there.

The park is very small with an artificial lake (there are some turtles and ducks). Not so very special, considering that so many better places are out of Empoli: Vinci, San Miniato Alto, Cerreto Guidi. But in summer there are interesting Concerts and shows in this park, very fun and just cool.

You won't likely find this town in a guide book, and while there isn't much to do here it's still a perfect place to experience the REAL Italy. Check out the butcher shop on the main street for authentic local cuisine and self-serve house wine. The locals are genuinely friendly, and if your lucky, like we were, you will stumble onto a local festival and get a chance to be a temporary local. This is a " lower your pulse " type of place.

Today me and my partner stumbled across this little gem whilst out village bobbing. We were beckoned to stop by an elderly gentleman doing his garden.
I'm so glad we did, the shop was closed probably due to the time of year but the castello and museum were open. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who welcomed us inside and promptly opened up the tower at our request. There are around 150 steps but they are not steep and easily manageable. The tower itself is quite spacious inside which Deb was pleased about. The climb to the top was I must say quite eerie and I found myself thinking of the village people of past that must of climbed up this tower in more menacing times.
Once at the top the view on this clear day was absolutely stunning, you could see full 360 deg as far as the eye could roam, simply wonderful.
After we descended we went into the museum which is only very small ( 1 room ) but quite interesting and gives you a glimpse into past life in the town.
I'm not sure how busy it gets during high season but it made it that little bit more special that we were the only ones there. I would definitely recommend a visit and it doesn't cost anything ( no collection box just a visitor book to sign )

What a quiet find! Lots of rooms with painting, weapons etc. and then an open Terrace with Roman statues. Very grand and delightful. Just pull the bell and this lady lets you in. She follows you around but it 's fine. I was on my own in there.

Played four times last week on this interesting 9-holes course. At first it looks quite intimidating (long, and the fairways are bordered by steep slopes), but the lay-out is actually very intelligent: you can greatly use the undulations of the course to your advantage if you take a minute to examine each hole before teeing off, each hole is really different, and there are no unpleasant surprises for those playing the course for the first time without a yard book. Well maintained greens. Clubhouse is cosy, with a beautiful Terrace, and staff both at reception and in clubhouse very friendly and efficient. Very highly recommended.
It's a pity the course and the clubhouse close at 7:00 pm, otherwise we would probably have done a twilight golf + dinner every other evening!
