Our first stop after reaching Nagoya. Not that difficult to come here; Meitetsu Tokoname line and alight Shurakuen Station. A very small station and once out you can see聚楽園公園 (Shurakuen Park). Not a big one but from here you can see part of the Big Buddha, which is less than 10 minutes walk slight upslope with steps.
The Buddha was guarded by 2 magnificent guardian deities. The big Shurakuen Buddha was constructed to commemorate the marriage of Emperor Showa. Some noted that it is even larger than the Great Buddha of Kamakura (but I have not been here..) . The statue is a popular symbol of Tokai City and much visited by nearby residents. The Shurakuen Park has some interesting features like a Garden (with playground),a shrine and even a small Teahouse where you can also take a break and enjoy a cup of matcha in the serene ambivence. :>
It was early summer but weather still a cooling 10 deg when we were here, It was rather quiet as we strolled within the premise, undisyrubed We strolled about the higher ground and depart via the other route downslope, only to appear at the train station again.

春は桜や梅、夏は地方の町2しては大変見応えのある花火大会など、四季折々の楽しみ方ができます。無料で駐車場も使え、図書館も隣接しているので、近くの方は利用価値大だと思います。

This firework display is held every summer in Oike Park in Chuo, Aichi. This elaborate production sees 4,000 fireworks dazzle the night skies annually. The very-popular grandstands are located close to the site where the fireworks are launched, so viewers can enjoy the full impact of the display. You can also lie down on the park grass to watch the show. The second half of the program features rapid bursts of starmine fireworks right up to the finale, building to a spectacular climax. Festival stalls are lined up along the roads surrounding the venue, patronized by bustling crowds of festivalgoers clad in yukata.

スターマインや大乱玉など、約4,000発の花火が打ち上げられ 毎年、市内外から多くの人が来場します。市の中心部で実施されるため、周囲どこからでも見ることができます。花火大会のクライマックスを飾る“大スターマイン”は迫力あります。
名鉄常滑線太田川駅から徒歩15分の大池公園から打ち上げられます。
時間にして約1時間で小さい子供にも丁度よい規模です。

ウォーキングだと１周１㎞ちょっとくらいの広さの公園です。園内には池や桜・梅・バラや遊具が少しあります。土日は２周１００円のゴーカートや無料のおもしろ自転車で遊べるので、家族連れでものんびりできると思います。

芝生広場やアスレチック遊具や屋外ステージがある公園ですが、そんなに広くはありません。園内にはバラ園があり100種類2000本のバラが見どころです。

麓にある仁王門に正面に新しい像、裏側に古い金剛力士像がそれぞれ安置されていて、時代の違う新旧の像を比べてみることができおもしろかったです。

東邦ガスの技術センターの一部を公開したのがガスエネルギー館、ガスが家に届くまでの仕組みや環境や省エネに関しての展示が充実、子供向けの展示ですが大人でも十分に楽しめる内容です。
頻繁に環境関連の子供向けの体験型イベントが行われています。調理実習やLEDを使った工作など、学校の机の上では学べないことを教えてくれすので非常にGoodです。

近くを通りがかったので1年ぶりに立ち寄ったら、渡辺崋山の企画展示もやっていて見ることができました。考古資料館も併設されていて入館無料で見学でき大変良かったです。普段はあまりなじみのない偉人なので、この記念館は役に立ちました。

本堂内は広いスペースがあり、ほとんど字や絵は読めなくなってますが絵馬や額がたくさん掛けられています。また三好清海入道（真田十勇士の一人？）が奉納したとされる鎧と物語の絵が展示されていました。
