Ok, so here's the deal: this is one of the best sights in Niteroi. I guess that, together with "Parque da Cidade", this is the best place to have a view form the top of Niteroi. And you get to also see almost all of Maricá.
The main path to get to the top involves riding or walking through "Estrada da Serrinha", where there is a sightseeing post where you will be able to see Itaipuaçu. Quite close to the white barrier that won't allow you to crack your head below, there will be a clear path towards the forest. That's where you should follow. The path is not dangerous, although people with poorer physical conditions might find it difficult to climb quickly, since it maintains a certain tilt through all the way. Healthy, young people should climb it in 45 minutes total: 35 dedicated to hiking and 10 to rock climbing. It is not DIFFICULT rock climbing at all, you'll just need to overcome a few steep obstacles of 2 or 3 meters to keep on walking your way up. In the top, the view makes it all worth it. It is possible to see the Beaches of Itacoatiara, Itaipu, Camboinhas and Piratininga, as well as Itaipuaçu to the other side. The lagoons are also visible, and it is easy to recognize many icons of the oceanic region of Niteroi.
Long story short: worth the visit, can be done in less than 2 hours, the clearer the day, the better. Avoid going up in reainy wheather, as it might get slippy and dangerous.

Praia Itaipuaçu during Aug/winter is intensely beautiful with powerful waves crashing on the white pebbled beach. High winds feed a strong undercurrent, not advise able to swim in the open ocean. A small cove gives limited swimming access and the beach cafes meet your beer or appetizer cravings.

A praia de Jaconé se estende pelos municípios de Maricá e Saquarema. A porção em Maricá é onde se encontra a natureza mais intocada, com pouca urbanização. Mar forte, muito vento, um lugar para se sentir realmente em contato com a natureza. E existe uma grande atração, pouco conhecida e muito ameaçada - pois bem neste local querem construir um porto! Refiro-me às beachrocks, formações rochosas que se espalham por alguns metros ao longo da costa, e que são formadas pela compactação de sedimentos ao longo dos séculos. Eu fiquei fascinada ao observá-las mais atentamente: são formadas por conchas diversas, areias, pedras e seixos... muitos dos quais nem existem mais na região! Dão testemunho da história da vida geológica e biológica da região. Uma verdadeira preciosidade!

Uma trilha íngrime. O tempo inteiro subindo entre raizes e Pedras. Em um determinado momento existe uma corda amarrada pra auxiliar um trecho curto de subida/descida.. O visual é metade urbano, metade natureza. E o vale é a foto na ponta da pedra. Mas não aconselhável pra quem tem medo de altura, labirintete. Pois é bem arriscado. Qualquer vacilo é um tombo feio.

If you're fed up with getting sand kicked in your face on crowded Beaches and annoying beach vendors, you might want to check out this beach! Most likely you will find an other beach goer 200 meters. Here you can stuble upon turtles that come ashore and sea horses that's been wash up by the waves. It's not the best place to swim if you like the sea to be still, but the sound of the waves will surely wash away any stress from your mind. I've fallen asleep there more than once ;)

Uma das lagoas mais famosas da Região dos Lagos oferece diversas possibilidades de entretenimento.
Se subdivide com outros nomes e é muito utilizada por praticante de esportes aquáticos, mas poderia ser melhor aproveitada, assim como o governo local poderia preservar mais o lugar.

Trilha com trechos leves e outros moderados, devido a alhumas sibidas íngremes. Vá com tênis apropriado, leve a água e até mesmo um lanche. Guie-se por roteiros disponíveis na Internet bem detalhados. Cuidado! Quando a sirene da Pedreira começar a tocar, significa que vão realizar uma explosão, que faz parte do processo de exploração mineral. Enquanto estávamos subindo teve uma dessas explosão e algumas pedras grandes caíram bem perto de nós. A caminhada na mata foi super agradável, mas para quem for sedentário vai dar uma canseirinha. Para chegar à gruta, atravessamosbuma caverna, foi uma experiência incrível. LEVE LANTERNAS! Dentro da gruta tem um lago onde é possível tomar banho. Foi delicioso e revigorante se refrescar nessas águas!
