Flying face-to-face with the snow-capped Mountains

Reviewed By Kristen B - Denton, Texas

We had an amazing time paragliding and I don’t think there is a prettier place to do it. What really made our experience great was our instructors. Buzz and Lars are hilarious and made us feel comfortable running off the side of the mountain. Would go again!

Lauterbrunnen Valley Waterfalls

Reviewed By Catherine M - Canton of Geneva, Switzerland

Always so special to see the impressive Waterfalls in this beautiful valley. From the village wander up to see the Staubbach falls. In the summer you can actually walk up a staircase that will take you right under the falls. In the winter this closed as it is too dangerous, because of the risk of falling ice.
If you want to see really impressive falls go to thé Trümmelbach falls up the valley. These are inside the mountain and can be reached by lift or foot (lots of stairs!!). You can really see how the water has eroded the mountain, beautiful falls. Lots of noise here ad the water thunders down.
The whole valley is beautiful. Summertime is best, in winter there is very little sunlight here, only from 11am to 1pm. It's shady and cold.

Trummelbach Falls

Reviewed By Bhashika_Edirisinghe - Colombo, Sri Lanka

Visited in a rainy afternoon. There are 10 glacier Waterfalls which are actually created from a single water-source which creates 10 falls through the rock on its way down.
We took the lift up to the 7th waterfall, then climbed to see the 10th. On the way down by foot we watched all other falls. It was the best way to do it since the descending was more easier.
You have to be extra careful since the stairs are slippery. If you are some one with walking/climbing difficulties, it is recommended to use the lift.
Despite all the climbs, it was a different and worth having experience.....

Lauterbrunnen Village

Reviewed By lmitravel - Calgary, Canada

Lauterbrunnen and area is picture perfect Switzerland you expect to see, but may not necessarily find in other parts of the country. Alpine meadows, Emerald greens, traditional cottages and majestic Mountains. The pictures you've seen do not lie. Swiss Pass or Berner Oberland Pass would be a must to make the most of the extensive railway, funicular and cable car networks in the area. And you must use them to really experience the magic. Other towns to explore are Murren (higher up from Lauterbrunnen and accessible only by cable car) and Wengen (on the other side of Lauterbrunnen Valley and reachable by a train).

Stopped in and bought a Swiss themed bike shirt on sale. Price was good, they had other specials. Good variety of gear. Hard to judge prices for value. Great service. When my credit card did not get approved, they took euros.

Sulwald

Reviewed By utahsf - Salt Lake City

Sulwald is tiny village accessible by tram, above Isenfluh, off the main highway to Lauterbrunnen. I took the road on a whim, and it ended up being a dramatic, single-lane mountain road complete with tunnels. Luckily, I didn't have any problems with the traffic, but be forewarned that the drive could be tricky. A bus goes up regularly, which would be a good option, also. At tiny Isenfluh, I found paid parking easily, and walked to the small tram station, where I caught a tram up the mountain (about 12CHF). A tiny lodge sits at the top of the tram at Sulwald, serving simple food and drinks. The restaurant clerk was kind and helpful. From that spot, at the top of the tram, one enjoys huge, expansive views to Jungfrau in the east, and the Schilthorn, etc. to the south. I only encountered 4 people at this quiet, peaceful spot (including the restaurant clerk). Hiking is probably possible, and a ski lift is available as well.

Skydive Xdream

Reviewed By Mandy P

My partner did this and says it was just awesome!! They were so helpful and looked after him all the way. Two people have to do the skydive so they found someone else to go up with him otherwise he wouldn't have been able to do it. After getting all rigged up they were briefed on what to do and then taken up over the Mountains in the helicopter which was amazing in itself being just feet from the snowcapped Mountains!! Then the jump....... 45secounds of freefall followed by floating down to a soft landing where we watched everything. They ask you if you want it filmed or pictures taken which is an extra cost but well worth it. If you have the bottle do it... its amazing!!!

Talmuseum Lauterbrunnen

Reviewed By SkiptonJane - Skipton, United Kingdom

Tiny museum of local history of the valley of Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland. A collection of local artefacts and wonderful photos, telling the lives of the local people. A tough history of grinding work, until foreign tourists came (including Byron, Goethe and Tolkein - who used the valley as his model for the elves' realm of Rivendell) and the modern tourism and ski industry began. Not over-displayed or interpreted, but unmissable and humbling records of past lives. Free to visitors staying in the valley and surrounding villages. Well worth an hour plus of your time.

Air-Glaciers, S.A.

Reviewed By JohnandTai - Chiang Mai, Thailand

Cable cars up the Mountains are wonderful, but what better way to see Switzerland's beautiful Mountains than a helicopter flight through the Alps. We took Air-Glaciers from their heliport in Lauterbrunnen valley for a flight up around Jungfrau, Monch and the Eiger. We landed on Europe's biggest glacier for a 30 minute walk-about and then were picked up again for the second half of the flight. Amazing experience and something we will remember for the rest of our lives.
Yes..... it is not cheap. You can figure spending at least $200-300 USD per person for a 20-30 minute flight. But it really is worth every penny. Thank you Air Glaciers!
