Pierre Grey's Lakes Provincial Park

Reviewed By Stacy R

Pierre Grey's is our tried and true camping spot. With the exception of a few spots, the campsites are very large and very private. I love how the different loops are spread out around the different lakes so no one loop feels too big or busy. There are a ton of family friendly trails. I was surprised by other reviews, I find this one of the quietest provincial parks hat we have stayed at, due to the layout of the loops and the fact that they only allow trolling motors ( fewer big boys with loud toys). I am sure it is a bit crazy on long weekends etc. but what park isn't? Several of the sites we have stayed in over the years have natural sand veins which are great for small kids!

We stumbled upon this unexpected delight during a road trip of Southwest Canada/Northwest USA a few years ago. I have created an 11 metre labyrinth at home myself, but this one was spectacular. Very sizeable, made of white/pale almost glistening local rocks, and, when we found it, with a snow-capped Rockies as its backdrop.
It was really quiet and peaceful, and I was so grateful to have found it! Thank you to those who put all the hard work into creating such a beautiful space!

We had e-mailed a head of our arrival but received no response. We called to arrange trail rides from the tourism centre for the next day. Upon reaching the U Bar Ranch we found no one there except for horses and dogs. We called left a message, no return call. We went back to the tourism centre concerned that the proprietors might be in need of assistance. Finally received a rerun call advising that if we went back "someone" might show up?!?.This experience was terrible and left a very poor impression of the otherwise beautiful Grande Cache area

It is well maintained throughout and features rolling fairways bordered by tall stands of pine and spruce. Most holes have large, undulating greens and staggered tee boxes which allow golfers to alter the look of the holes. The course is one of the most stunning in the province, offering breathtaking mountain views from every hole.
