Edmonton Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Edmonton

March 17, 2018 Jasper Kershner

As North America’s northernmost large metropolis, Edmonton is a fascinating study in contrasts — a vibrant urban center in the heart of the wilderness. It’s a city that’s never been afraid to do things a little differently, as visitors discover through close encounters with free-roaming bison, a shopping mall that spans more than 48 city blocks, and a dynamic arts and culture scene that embraces more than 40 annual festivals, including the continent’s biggest and wildest Fringe Theatre Festival.

I cancel another reservation to go here and I'm very disappointed I did that.
Between me and my wife we had the starter tortelloni, the Korean Fried Cauliflowers, the duck with double smoked bacon, braised beef and the Vegeterian Tasting. I have to admit, nothing was bad, but nothing was amazing either. The only thing I didn't like was the double smoked bacon that wrapped the elk; it tasted like burnt.
To summarize, if I pay a premium for my food I expect some excellence or at least something that make me go "wow, this is really good", and I didn't get that...Disappointed!

As a meat lover, when your wife recommends a vegan restaurant for the family, I tried subtle ways to suggest a different cuisine. Gave in eventually - happy wife happy life! Was I ever impressed!
We have been to Vegan restaurants for quick eats like wraps and salads but never a full meal... until now. This restaurant is perfect for dinners for large groups and eating can be buffet style at your table. The service is quick. Large portions of food for each menu item. The food is tasty and in some instances, you can’t tell it’s not meat. Our fave for the night was the corn soup, the satay and the general Tao Chicken! The ginger beef is pretty good as well.
The skip the dish Delivery drivers just kept coming to the door - clearly popular.
Give it a try - definitely a different experience that’s absolutely worth a try.

A unique dining experience serving Cajun and Creole cuisine. The sweet potato fries come highly recommended.

Home of the poboys sandwiches! There are a few options. We both had the cat fish version which was okay. The sweet potato fries definitely earned their stripes! Decent lunch - nothing to shout about. Definitely has a New Orleans feel to it.

I came in with a friend for dinner last night. It was absolutely wonderful. We were the first patrons of the evening, the hostess was friendly and welcoming. The service was excellent, by 6:00pm the restaurant was getting very busy and she remained friendly and attentive throughout. About half an hour into our evening the owner came by, said hello and chatted with us for a while, he was genuinely friendly and interested in how things were going, always nice to see.
We started off with grilled apricots that were stuffed with feta cheese on a bed of spinach, it was wonderful, there was a hint of vanilla flavour was wonderful. Then we had the appetizer platter to sample a number of things, 2 grilled prawns, 2 stuffed mushrooms, 2 dolmades, 2 wonderful thinly sliced cured ham rolls stuffed with feta and fig and flatbread. Everything was excellent. This sample was enough for 4 people.
As a main we shared the grilled tuna. It was excellent. The tuna was perfectly cooked, medium rare. The grill flavour, topped with fresh squeezed lemon was wonderful.
Alas, we were stuffed after our meal and did not have room for desert, but I will be back for sure, this is an exceptional restaurant and there are many things on the menu to enjoy.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Had a great experience here. My server was fun & did not take the evening too seriously. She knew what the place was and just enjoyed being there. It was great.
Food was good, got exactly what I expected. Really good Steak & fries, really good escargot as well. Beignets for dessert were well done, and made to order!
Had a great French wine from Lirac, went great with my food. It was great to see some choices outside the box for a change, and fairly priced!

This is the first time we have participated in the monthly pairing of cuisine and specialty liquor events at the Continental Treat. This evening we sat with the Scotch expert who introduced us to a number of types of Scotch which were very enjoyable.. a real treat, as many were expensive and we would not have had a similar opportunity otherwise. As always, the dinner was fabulous.. The owner takes special care to meet with each guest and makes everyone feel part of the family. I have requested notices of future events and intend to make this at least a quarterly treat.

WE visited Hathaway,s recently and had breakfast. Like our other visits nothing has changed. still the excellent service and delicious food in generous portions. The coffee is outstanding and plentiful. The pies are to kill for and every hing is homemade from scratch with top not ingredients. The customers still line up outside for the wonderful breakfasts and lunch they serve and it remains one if not the best breakfast lunch place in Edmonton.
