If you have only one place to visit on Lake Garda this is it. A fantasy land of sculpture and architecture that includes a warship. It's worthwhile to take a guided tour around the house to be told the history of this amazing place. Well worth the entrance fee

Stayed in a villa overlooking Salo - the lake is just stunning both day and night. We drove the western shore to the top and back, stopping off in various villages for a stroll - Limone was our favourite on that side. Another day we caught the car ferry over to Torri on the eastern side and drove up to Malcesine which is beautiful too. To complete our circuit of the lake we drove along the southern shore to Sirmione, which is well worth a visit too and then on round to the eastern side stopping in Bardolino which is an old medieval city with a lovely waterfront and great ice cream parlours.

Isola del Garda

We had booked this trip before leaving the UK, but on our chosen morning, there was torrential rain, with thunder and lightening. We emailed to cancel, and rebooked for two days later.
The weather wasn't particularly good then, but at least it was dry. It didn't detract from our visit however, and in fact added to the atmosphere during our walk through the wooded areas of the island.
The island is a 15 minute boat ride from Portese harbour, and on arrival we were divided into two groups, one English speaking, and one German speaking for the guided tour. Our guide was very good, and gave us lots of interesting information as we went round the island. The tour last about an hour and a half, and culminates with the viewing of a couple of rooms in the villa, and a drink and nibbles on the Terrace. There is also the opportunity of sampling olive oil, made on the Mainland on one of the family's enterprises.
It's a very pleasant way to spend a morning whilst staying in the Lake Garda area!

OMG, I am SO LUCKY to have found this place!!! We were informed about its existence by a local, the owner of our B&B, and I'm SOOO GLAD we went. After having spent time there, I'm SHOCKED that more people don't come here and that it's not marketed more widely.
This is not some dinky small-time show room - it's a full fledged, impressive and large museum! The quality of the displays are incredible, and it takes you from how paper was made out of cotton at this particular facility, up through the printing press being invented, up to the modern times and how paper is produced and printed now, our modern uses of paper, and so much more!
The museum is located in a beautiful valley that is accessible by foot for those who want to take a long and leisurely walk, and there are many hikes spanning from the old paper factory if you're up for a hike after the museum.
The cost is surprisingly reasonable, 6 euros for an adult, and even cheaper if you have a group of 6. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and an audio tour is also available.
Definitely make time for a visit - it is educational, beautiful, and really rare and unique! Loved it!

Parco Avventura Rimbalzello Adventure

Rimbalzello Adventure Park offers raised routes of different heights and difficulty between the trees. The routes may be practiced by children, youngster and adults and all may live an unforgettable experience. Because of the great combination of fun, didactic experience and sport activity our park is getting always much more success between school and summer camp trips and team building activities. A lot of fun for kids, can be combined with visit to Heller garden nearby and provide a sort of compensation for those who like sport & activities instead of looking on plants and flowers. A bit expensive from my point of view but worth it if you never done something like that. My 7 years old daughter surprisingly had absolutely no fear and had a lot of fun walking on the rope and sliding on the pulley.

A little bit difficult to find but worth it when you do so . There is free parking plus a cafe and a museum just before you get to the climb up to the ancient castle .There are archeological findings going back 5000 to 8000 years WOW ! These were found relatively recently in the 1970's . Great views of the lake & in particular San Felice & Isola del Garda from the top.

We chose Torri as my husband had learned to sail on Lake Garda and wanted to be based somewhere where he could have a lesson or two and then charter a yacht. Well.......when we arrived to enquire they just said no they could not help us either with lessons or yacht hire. They could not wait for us to leave. We just don't understand. It was a shame as we had allowed a few thousand euros for this part of the holiday.

This was an unexpected found in a small village on Garda Lake. It is a combination of luxurious botanical garden with art installation, some of them from pretty famous artists. Althought the garden is quite small you will never want to leave it! It is not an ussuall garden, it is an experience like travelling through different parts of the world or of time. I highly recommend ot if you are in the area! It is magic!

this Promenade is just wonderful, at sunset time is one of the most romantic places i have ever been. you will not have the sunset in front of you, but you will see the light on the Mountains on the other side of the lake slowly disappearing while the lights on the Promenade slowly switch on. so beautiful!!
the Promenade is quite long, bringing you from the city centre to the small harbour to the small beach just outside the town. this variety was extremely pleasant.
it is quite large and fresh, with a lovely breeze also during hottest hours.
we would have stayed there forever.
