Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine

Reviewed By XavierShoot - Singapore, Singapore

Definitely worth the hardship trip if purpose is to capture the majestic sight of Mount Fuji, In spring, Arakurayama Sengen Park has a beautiful View of red and green colors.
When walking around this park, you will have a sense of peaceful and relaxing.
Climb half to the hill, the five-story pagada is right in front. It's not huge but inspiring; not grand but holy. It completely shocks you with comprehensive and profound Japanese culture.

Itchiku Kubota Art Museum

We loved the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum. It was slightly difficult to find, given the location (which was slightly further than the bus stop). It was worth the trip to Lake Kawaguchiko. The art was so beautiful and the architecture was perfect! We were also lucky to see the most stunning view of Mt Fuji. We will happily come back and visit again.

Oshino Hakkai

A nice small village but it was raining so we couldn't see Mount Fuji. There are plenty of food booths and shops. We tried the tofu that is made from their spring water, it was nice and smooth. We ordered the pan-fried fish but we weren't thrilled because it was overcooked thus the meat was dry. There are a few dragon faucets by the pond and if you have a water bottle, you can fill it with water from Mount Fuji.

Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine

Reviewed By Eric_Greeney - Finland

The temple is located in the middle of giant, ancient cedar trees on a place where pilgrims used to commence their ascent to the holy mountain. The Yoshida trail still begins here, and was indeed tempting in front of us, inviting towards the pilgrimage. But we had to resist since the climbing season was not yet open (and nowadays, climbers start from the much higher 5th station).
There are beautiful buildings, some real worship and services taking place as well, giant Torii gates and in addition to the huge cedar threes, some very beautiful Japanese maples. No particular emphasis on gardening, but still a serene place away from the buzz of the city below. The function as the pilgrimage station added value to the temple, absolutely worthwhile to any visitor of Fuji. No entrance fee.

Stunning lake reflecting Mount Fuji. Not much else to do in Kawaguchi-ko but worth a visit to see the volcano.

Fuji-Q Highland

Reviewed By dittmer5034 - Newton, Iowa

My wife and I are in are late 30's and a 16 year old son. We took the train which was cheap and efficient as always. Not very crowded on a weekday. Lots of variety of rides and a couple fun roller coasters. No one spoke English and we spoke no Japanese and we had no issues finding our way around or getting on the rides. Was a fun trip overall.

Arakurayama Sengen Park

Reviewed By Natalie P - Hampshire, UK

One of the most scenic and iconic views in all of Japan can be found here. The panoramic views from the picnic area above the pagoda are amazing. I truly suggest coming here early in the morning (before sunrise if possible) as this is the best for photographs and for the view. However even on days when Mount Fuji is not visible the views of Fujinomiya below are still excellent. Spend some time exploring the Forests, beware of wild boar and bears and monkeys though!

Oishi Park

Reviewed By YTCHENG - Hong Kong, China

We have visited Oishi Park during our stay in Kawaguchiko this Oct. The park was near to the Gem Museum and there were many tall trees by the lakeside and had changed color to yellow. The place was nice and good for photo-taking. By the way, this was one of the bus stop along the circular bus route in town.

Chureito Pagoda

Reviewed By SurfingWild - Bandung, Indonesia

Brilliant Pagoda and amazing view of Mt. Fuji. Located in Fujiyoshida, the Chureito Pagoda can be reached either by driving to a small carpark just below the pagoda or walking up the hill. We drove because it was fairly quiet in the autumn. The pagoda is beautiful but to get the best photos one has to walk around and up a dirt bank among the firs trees and behind the pagoda. The views of Mt. Fuji are really excellent and this destination is definitely worth visiting if only to admire the beautiful Fuji mountain from this ideal viewing point.
