I have visited few saunas and SPA centers in Bishkek, but Afrodita is my favorite! It has everything you need in one place. I really enjoyed my visit as staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely a place to visit again!

This museum houses a mixed collection of fine arts. We found the textiles and needlework more interesting than the paintings. The collection of sculpture was fascinating.

Everything here is written in Russian. We (two Americans) had a local translator with us and also a Museum employee who told about the exhibits. Our translator was a lifesaver in this museum. (The Museum Staff member was great! She sensed our interest and responded with maybe more of a lively explanation that is normally given to visitors. KUDOs to her!) Museum tells the tale of the Soviet founder of the Kyrgyzstan SSR, (I may err here: Maybe all the "Stans" were consolidated during the 1920's?) The battles between the Red and White factions factor into the museum's narrative. Static model displays weapons as well as the house where the hero Frunze was born. Lots of very detailed history here as the Soviet Union was founded. In retrospect, I wonder if the=is fellow Frunze was the (partly) the inspiration for Pasternak's Zhivago? Fun place to try and learn some of this complex history.

Dordoi Bazaar is a few kms north of Bishkek, and well worth visiting for a few hours. It is huge, but take your time and wander about and get lost in the various lanes. This market is composed of 2 story shipping containers, with the bottom being the store and the top being the storage space. It is mostly wholesale, but there are retail sections. You can find anything and everything here, in different sections. The shopkeepers are helpful if you need to find something specific. This market had mostly Chinese goods, and people from all over Central Asia come to shop here. Great place to people watch and browse the goods
